Daunt's expression didn't change much, but this probably didn't work toward allaying the situation. Or to his advantage.

"Perhaps let's go have a drink? There must be a place somewhere around here."

The hug caught her off guard. A resentful little demon within her whispered sweet little nothings about robbing the girl of vitality through the touch. It was a conflict of pettiness that she cursed herself inwards at even thinking it.

Both arms wrapped around the other woman gently. It appeared she didn't know about Juri at all, and that made all the difference, for her.

"I'm a Witch. And a Doctor." She replied, keeping that little voice deep within quiet. A confidence in her place keeping her buoyed. "Charmed to meet you, I'm sure."

There was a look to Daunt at his suggestion. "Another time. There's... a lot to do yet. I have patients who still need treatment. We can talk, the three of us, soon." A slight edge to her voice as she looked at the Zabrak, and then a pleasant smile to Lyla.

"Get it?" Lyla said with excitement. She then hooked arms with Daunt and said, "I love the way he thinks! Let's get drinks!"

"Juri commands respect for good reasons, Lyla." Daunt remarked. "But yeah, let's get a drink, you and me."

"Important witch doctor," she added to Daunt.

"She is my kin, Lyla. I care for her." He said firmly. "This is something I don't speak about casually though. But since we are at this level of mutual confidence, I'd like to know more of you. Beyond deliveries." He led her in search for alcohol.

"We're both from Dathomir, a pair of survivors. We have been sticking together for our whole stay on Bankor." He smiled. "Perhaps I don't. But if you don't want to trust me with more, babe, that is your choice. I am not the overbearing type."

He kępt looking. "Planning to commit to all this for real?"

"I'm not the sharing type, so you sweet on her... or you two just real tight?" she asked giving him a serious look.

"I don't care, but I am committed to one thing," she added with a serious tone stopping him.

The Witch had silently watched as they walked away. Her nails had buried themselves into her palm while she had clenched, a slight draw of blood. She turned, returning to Jenna.

"I'm so sorry you had to see that." She whispered to the redhead. Looking to her, she offered a smile. "What's your name? Here I am carrying on like we are old friends."

[Daunt]

"Look, Lyla." He gazed straight at her. "I had a life before we met and it hasn't disappeared just because we have this off and on relationship. You have as much say about what I do when we're not together as I do about your 'deliveries' or whatever you are up to when I don't see you. I am as much uncontrollable as you are. But if you want to tell me the thing you are committed to you have my curiosity and attention." And he gave her the full attention of the intense green eyes.

“I… I am not naïve, but if you think I am out delivering… anything but uhh… my deliveries you’re wrong! You think I am just sleeping around buddy! NOPE! Just you, so don’t throw that uncontrollable crap in my face, you’re not an animal,” she said taking offense.

She shoved him back into a private alcove and said, “I am committed to you, you big idiot. It’s not off and on for me, I just have things I am doing. Look you want to know stuff, my dad’s important, he’s real important. And I used to do work for him, gather information, kill people, get things… you know.”

“Well there is this General Gunray, a nemodian now running the CIS whatever, he needed killing and I saw an opportunity but then I ran into you and you seemed really cool that night and I meant to use you for information but I coudn’t and then I realized if I killed Gunray then I would probably have to leave so I kept delaying and delaying and then finally decided not to kill… well him.”

“Because of you, you idiot. So that’s me, Lyla Palpatine, it’s complicated… technically I don’t exist, but there you go,” she said angrily.

Vaya edged up to Juri and Jenna, staring at the corner around which the arguing pair had gone.

"Speaking as a highly trained anthropologist, that looked awkward." She looked at Juri. "How, uh, are you doing?"

"Yea," she said, taking in a shoulder to shoulder side sorta stance with Vaya turned to Juri, she said, "Jenna by the way, how are you doing? That was.. well, about as wild as I've started to expect to see from that Zabrak. Maybe it's time for a break from all this work for a bit, huh?"

[Daunt]

The confession hit Daunt like a truck, his eyes widening. There was so much to process, disparate pieces falling into their places, and him being the reason why Emperor's secret daughter had disobeyed him... It was mind-boggling, discombobulating, perplexing, befuddling and reason-shattering on some many levels that for a moment he felt entirely lost in it. And then the Neimoidian who escaped assassination because Lyla had something of her own to believe in... It felt like earth opening and spewing lava amid what had just been a walking path across the countryside he was on. Finally, Force & Destiny, or however you'd call that, caught up with him, in a big way.

And there she was, a girl he had mindlessly hurt. He hadn't implied what she found offensive but that was his poor wording and so he was deserving of her anger. His first impulse was to pull her closer and hug tightly. "I am sorry for being such a sleemo with words, Lyla. And an idiot. Now I get more, a lot more. And I promise to sort my stuff out." He didn't yet know what it meant in practice, but it was a direction he had to take.

Stroking her hair, he whispered. "So now I know why you're here, being the ballsiest of all rebels. And it can be as complicated as it can get for all I care."

[Dapper Dog]

"Don't you get all sweet on me," she murmured but she accepted the apology gladly.

"I am still mad at you, kind of, but I'll get over it, maybe."

[Daunt]

"Sure. That's how it is. Still want that drink?"

"Of course I do," she said once again happy. "You're buying, but if you play your sabacc cards right you might get lucky later."

"Let's get a couple of rounds and see where it gets us." He smirked, adjusting to a more positive atmosphere. He would not draw out any tough subjects that evening.

"So," she said, giving the woman a brief smile in turn, "what does a doctor witch do in her time off, care to show a fellow doctorate and someone without a lick of proper education?"

[Vaya Mer'darrow]

"I'm fine." She closed her eyes, focusing on the two other women. She didn't want to make a scene, or show her anger. A deep breath, composing herself. The Witch looked to Jenna, smiling widely.

"You are probably right. Maybe another distraction is a good idea." Then a long glance to Vaya. "I hope the anthropological record doesn't show that for future generations."

Vaya nodded, seemingly taking Juri at her word. "My field notes are confidential without prior informed consent," she said, and in case that wasn't clear, she gave a just-the-corners-of-the-mouth smile and drew a finger across her lips like the applicator of a tube of sealant, the “glued shut” gesture of silence.
