Halp, a Star Wars story [D6, MN]

An underwater facility constructed by Mandalorians an age ago, slowly being refurbished by the King. Now Resistance HQ.

''You...are quite correct Miss Float'' he replied calmly ''I am the oddity here since I was in the separatist army.''
"Well..." shrugging "It was a bad war all round, then the peace was nearly worse."

Bowze was silent for a moment

''The war was bad because it was designed to be so.'' he shool his head ''That was not even a war, in the end it was just theater.''

''True enough.''

What was there more to say on that? Especially to a Jedi

Taking the exposed appendage, Juri quickly sanitized it, and then injected the syringe. The shock to the system would be intense, but the cure would flow quickly.

"Call me in the morning if you have any problems." There was a hint of a laugh in her words.

Bowze did not quite know how to reply to that, instead he opted to thank the doctor

''I...hope there will be none...'' he said with a worried smile

Still, that was that. He did not need his improvized hazmat suit so he removed it, revealing is new general's uniform underneath.

Djanik watched the conversation volley past him, rubbing at his neck.

Glancing at Jurdak, ignoring the likely misery of Bowze, offering him some respect, he said, softly, "I'm sorry we got off on a bad foot yesterday. I'd like to speak with you about it, if you have time."

Now that he was going to live, he had things he had to do.

Dak eyed the Pantoran for a moment, his curiosity was mostly sated about the jedi business at least for now. He could find Petrus or one of the others if he had more questions.

"Sure, we can chat about it." He said nodding his head to a relatively unoccupied corner of the room and then heading that direction.

Following Jurdak to that corner of the infirmary, he said, simply. "Sorry. I was out of line. I didn't know those people like you did."

Dove just watched the different interactions play out before her. Bowze hinting at the truth of the war, Djanik and Dak talking things out, Juri going about her business.

It was... the kind of scene that helped distract the mind. The cigarette on her lips remained unlit, but just having it there was more relaxing now than actually smoking it.

Dak nodded his expression serious "Yes you were and no you didnt." Then it softened and he gave Djanik a small smile "But I accept your apology, you have good intentions just over stepped the line on that one. We're good." He said extending a hand to the other man.

Djanik took it, stating, simply, "I buried a lot of my own people during the war - I guess I forgot not everyone was... well, not everyone came from my side of things. The kind of work you do, the risks are a lot more personal, so having people who depend on you get hit like that... I bet it was new, and I know it couldn't have been pleasant."

Shaking his head, he added, "I'm glad you were able to pull off that rescue - by the time I heard about it, it was already over." Rubbing at the black marks along the side of his neck, absent-mindedly, he added, "Not that I could've risked getting wounded and left there... too much risk of contamination..."

Returning to himself, he added, "In some ways I guess envied you - you can put your skills to use, on your own. If I don't have a team of engineers and support staff, along with a squadron of wingmates... I'm just another fool with a blaster. That's really what I was trying to say - there are people like me out there - people who want to help, but can't really do it solo."

Dak nodded "I understand and hey I'm no stranger to losing teammates or" he struggled to find a word other than working assets "associates, it's the slaughtering of civilians I find so damn wrong. The Aznuri were a peaceful people at their core, they fight but only to defend themselves. They dont seek conflict and just want to be left alone. They have no place in this conflict." Plus he hated a bully which the Empire definitely was.

"And I get it man, if you remember at first i was defending you while trying to cool things off. You werent wrong you just need more tact. I'm not saying other people didnt take things too far but you gotta know when to let it go, figure out the right hill to die on so to speak."

He took a deep breath "not that it really matters anymore, we're here now and I'm sure you'll get that squadron soon enough." He chuckled "well at least the closest thing you'll find to it."

The whole conversation had come and gone before Verse had a chance of speaking on it; though she probably wasn't in the best state to do so anyway. She certainly didn't feel like she'd been a child soldier, despite just recounting the story of how she got terribly injured during one of a number of battles she'd been in; and that of course whilst on a bed, recovering from terrible injuries.

She didn't hold any grudges. Neither against the Republic and Order for sending her into battle, or the people she was sent to fight. It was just the way of things, both sides trying to do what they thought was right, both sides being played for fools.

"It is in the past," she said at some point, as calmly as one might say it's midday, time for lunch. "And we're not. We're in the now."

"Past shapes the now and the future," Dove added in softly. "It's why it's important to not forget the mistakes and faults done before. You're bound to repeat them if you do."

"I can hope."

He chuckled, dryly, "I've had to go solo against TIEs twice now, and my ship is more dreams than hull, at this point."

Crossing his arms, he added, "It was being ordered to gun down civilians that first made me defect. I can't speak for everyone here, but I think a lot of us wanted to give the Empire a chance - and they've spent that goodwill long ago."
