[Day 7 - ME] Hey, hey it's the Monkey-Lizards!

[Dapper Dog]

And the people say they monkey-lizard around... well not really. Trion and the band were setting up at the bistro and bar, she had laid low the last few weeks buying some protection for the band from the Disciple but she wanted to say thanks to folks who had helped her escape and found a lot of them were in the Resistance and since she was still on the Empire’s bad side here she was.

A full set for the evening in a nicer atmosphere than the Nerf, not hat the Salty Nerf set an incredibly high bar.

[Astin Denive]

Astin sat at a table a beer in his hand. He hadn't really been expecting any bands to be playing at the resistance base, but he supposed he would take it.

Of course the lack of a dance floor was a bit of a downer, but this was an ex military base, you couldn't have everything.

Floats turns up and perches on a stool by the bar. She appears to have actually swapped her overalls (for once) for a pair of short shorts and a singlet. It was a well known Nautolan fact, you couldn't part in your overalls.

She sends Astin a friendly wave, but checks her commlink again, clearly waiting for someone.

Daunt came for drinks, music, perhaps conversation and dance if opportunity presented itself. He sat by the bar, keeping his cantina habit to remain cloaked and things under the cloak not in full display.

Back to the resistance base, Jenna made herself comfortable in here, it was a far cry from the days back in the Salty Nerf but at least the patrons here weren't all out to get one another.

At least.. she hoped they weren't.

Taking up residence by the bar, next to Daunt, and lays her hands out onto the counter.

Taking a spot by Daun, this woman wore a dark leather jacket with a hood that exposed her midriff and slimming dark tights with thick boots. She was here to be seen, look good, and enjoy herself. She had been seen around the base doing odd jobs but was like a shadow, most people forgetting she was even there.

“This place is really coming together, better than the Nerf at least.”

Vaya came in to the Bistro and gave a rare, unaffected grin as she heard the music, taking a moment to pause and bob her head and antennapalps in time to it. Then she turned to the bar, saw floats, and approached. She didn't have that many clothes to rotate through, but the change in location from Rygor had brought out a slightly different part of her serviceable and expedition-ready wardrobe. Today she wore safari shorts and a white button-down shirt, but there was something new and incongruous -- a lightweight tiara of silvery metal and crystals.

"Hey Fathynyu!" she said, taking a seat. "What'll you have?"

"At least Hrugos can't come over and spoil the good music by some billowing jealousy of his." Daunt chuckled, paying for drinks for both ladies at his sides. "People have settled in. Just still don't know if it's smart for whoever runs it all to pick all eggs in one basket."

Vaya came in to the Bistro and gave a rare, unaffected grin as she heard the music, taking a moment to pause and bob her head and antennapalps in time to it. Then she turned to the bar, saw floats, and approached. She didn't have that many clothes to rotate through, but the change in location from Rygor had brought out a slightly different part of her serviceable and expedition-ready wardrobe. Several weeks in, still fun to say!

"You're looking real spiff....you ain't a princess are yah? I've been missing the honorifics and everything."
Floats figured 50/50 she was a jedi too

"I don't really know what I want, haven't had the disposable income for alcohol in...how long is forever?"

Jenna nodded her thanks to Daunt, and then looked over at he other woman curiously. Just nursing the thought for the moment that she held there, on the tip of her tongue.

"As long as some people I care about are here?" He said in lighter tone. "And rebelling looks better than its alternatives, also because it gives a nicer feeling to settling the score."

Vaya touched the tiara self-consciously. Her antennapalps came up from behind it like the necks of a two-headed serpent behind the wall of a fairytale castle. "No, just... a gift I got. I don't really think it goes with anything I own, but," and she shook her head, as if to dismiss the modesty.

She looked around for a bartender, intending to ask for "grog" and seeing what happened.

There was a few faces Astin recognized in the crowd, including one he wasn't entirely comfortable seeing. Having a woman here that would murder folk to get something she needed didn't really sit well in his belly.

Still it wasnt really the time to make a fuss about it, people were here to enjoy themselves, so he took another sip of his beer though now it left a sour taste on his tongue.

"As long as some people I care about are here?" He said in lighter tone. "And rebelling looks better than its alternatives, also because it gives a nicer feeling to settling the score."

"We could just leave," she offered. "This isn't really our fight, and as far as odds go this is a LONG shot."

"Oh wow, fancy gift! From like a boyfriend or something?" Nobody gave Floats anything

Floats will also order grog, believing it to be some kind of house specialty.

"We can always leave, it's a voluntary endeavour from what I understand." Whisper probably didn't work with Jenna just near. "But until someone tries to pull a chain of command on me, I think it's good." He pointed to the stage. "The place has Monkey-Lizards!"

He would have this conversation later with Lyla, in a more serious manner. Here, with so many die-hard Resistance members around, things shouldn't go beyond jokes.

"Saw how that one went, the ugly way," she commented, but quickly hid from the comment by taking a not-so-small sip from the drink afforded her by the Zabrak. Wasn't in her nature not to listen in, even if it did seem a private conversation of.. a couple? Supposed they were, after that scene with Juri, but then again for some reason she didn't see the Zabrak as the being a couple with someone type.

Life surprises, always, of course, when you boil it down.

This was supposedly because during past eons, after the invention of the hyperdrive but before it reached the speeds known today, interstellar travel could put a great strain on supplies for the crew. Often ships would economize on storage space by collecting water from asteroids, but such liquid was often full of strange mineral tastes or ill-flavored extremophiles that did no harm, but resisted all attempts to boil or filter them away.

"So they'd make it more palatable," said Vaya, "with liquor." And some spices, and maybe a splash of citrus juice. "The galaxy-famous kind was named after a Gorga the Hutt, back when the Hutts were conquerers instead of gangsters. Hence," she raised her glass to clink with Floats, "with some linguistic mutation, grog."

The Nautolan kicks back her glass in one gulp and then pauses as her eyes start to water.

Trion smiled at the large crowd and said, "Thank you... truly thank you for vibing with us tonight. We are Monkey-Lizard Blues and we are here for you. Please enjoy."

"This is a favorite for me and all the loves... that were too soon." She began to sing.

Once the song finished they rolled into another song with a brief preamble, "This is for all the late nights I did the dumb thing and had a great time, you know what I mean." Once the song is done the band grooves with some freestyle as she danced on stage.

"This one goes out to everyone that needs a little reminder that life will go on, and we ain't got time to lose... right ladies?" she asked before she started singing.

"Ohhhh, so it's like drinking some history that tastes like gutrot. Well, now next time someone asks me for grog I can explain it to them, cheers Vaya!"
The Nautolan kicks back her glass in one gulp and then pauses as her eyes start to water.

"That's the spirit!" said Vaya and ordered another round. She was about to point out a little liquor pun, there, when the band started.

"I love this song." She focused totally for a few seconds, then brought herself back to the conversation with some effort. "How you settling in after the whole being-run-out-of-town thing? This place more your speed than Rygor?" As if they had merely come to a tropical vacation spot, and not a secret base surely slated for orbital bombardment.

Well, it was also a tropical vacation spot.

"That's the spirit!" said Vaya and ordered another round. She was about to point out a little liquor pun, there, when the band started.

"I love this song." She focused totally for a few seconds, then brought herself back to the conversation with some effort. "How you settling in after the whole being-run-out-of-town thing? This place more your speed than Rygor?" As if they had merely come to a tropical vacation spot, and not a secret base surely slated for orbital bombardment.

Well, it was also a tropical vacation spot.

Cough, wheeeze. Oh man, grog was pretty much fire!
"Can't say I've ever heard the song before, but it's catchy!"
She taps her hand along

"This place is So much better than Rygor. You got your water and your sea monsters, warm beaches to hang out on. Everything is humid so I don't have to worry about my skin. As rebel bases go, this is perfect."
Beaming over at Vaya
"What about you? Does it float your boat?"

Vaya gave Floats a look, as if wondering if that last line was supposed to be some kind of personalized catchphrase or if it was unselfconscious. Then she blinked. "Sea monsters?"

"Oh yeah, got some sea killers in the waters 'round here. Beautiful creatures so sleek, so focused. Love the way they go at a whale, even if I feel bad for the whale."
