Underwater life. (Day 6 Early Afternoon)

"If you say so." Astin replied, he wasn't going to pick at it if she didn't want to especially out here in the open like this.

"That's sounds like something I don't want to mess with." Two hundred meters long? It could probably make a snack out of their freighter.

"But if I see one I'll let ya know." Sometime later after he had gotten them all out of there.

"Should we consider some countermeasures against big seamonsters trying to eat our base?" she wondered out loud. "Like... noises or something to keep them away?"

"We could get some seamonster repellent, but that's real expensive stuff, they need to make it with organic materials. I'll have a look a bout and see what I can find, for now you just keep a rebreather handy."

"Alright." He sighed softly to himself then looked to Dove. "Seems like we might want to invest in those aquatic modifications for our ship after all."

"Not that I'm too worried about giant sea creatures attacking this base, but you never know."

Hugely excited sounds "That was an option? We got the credits? I don't got them but I could try and find some!"

"I'll look into it, but I think those kind of upgrades are pretty expensive. I got about a thousand creds I can save for such an investment though," she said thoughtfully, trying to forget the unreasonable phobia about the ocean deep and its critters.

"If you want to try and find some credits Floats I won't stop you." He reached a hand up to his cheek and scratched at the stubble.

"I'll see what I can do to scournge up some myself. Can't let Dove here pitch in the Rancor's share after all."

"I'll just do what I can professionally.....y'all know anyone who can pay like, 1,000 credits+ expenses for a boat repair?"

"Depends on the job, Floats," she chuckled, seeming a little bit more like herself again, "but I don't think that's the type of jobs you wanna do, to be honest."

Honest work didn't seem to pay as much as the dirty work did. "For a ship our size, we'd probably need around 4000, at least."

"Miss Dove, if I ain't doing boat mechanic jobs how am I gonna earn a living? I don't have your skills or Astin's good looks."

"Good looks don't often earn you a lot in the way of money either, Floats." Astin replied with a chuckle. "But yeah, that's certainly alot of cash. Not gonna be easy to put it together either." Astin didn't really have a source of income anymore.

"Could go looking for things to sell, and of course there are always bounties as well. Never cared much for those though."

"I've been doing bounties on and off the past couple of years, but it's not a job that's cut out for everyone."

And she certainly didn't want Floats to start down that line of work. "We'll keep it in mind for the future though. I'm sure we can find other things..."

"Bounty Hunting is what Miss Sacha does.....then again, you gotta be awful mean to folk. Maybe if there was a bounty on a boat or something....maybe that'd work."
Humming quietly to herself, Floats returns to her duties, pondering the mysteries of income.

"I'm not entirely sure many bounties happen in boats." Astin mused in return. "Though I'm no expert."

"I suppose the best bet then is scournging around to see what we can find to sell. Should be some things of interest that washed ashore on these islands."

"Hmmm... might even be able to scrounge up for parts to do the modifications ourselves?" she asked the two who were way more mechanically inclined than her, though she could only look at Astin for answers.

Happily "Oh I tried that, went scrounging with a nice young lady a few days back. We ran into a giant worm that was the personification of evil and fear, darn thing nearly ate us....didn't get any scrap neither, though we did find a body."

"That sounds like the kind of place we'll want to avoid." Astin offered with a wry smile. "Bodies and giant worms really aren't what we're after."

"We might be able to do the modifications yourself though, if we get enough scrap. Course I don't know much about making starships like boats, so Floats will need to help with that.

"Can't say I've ever built one, Floats." She cast a sceptical glance out to the waters. "... It could be useful for the Resistance to have a ship that can do underwater stuff though... at least, well, one never knows what you'll end up needing."

"Not to mention under the water is a pretty solid place to hide if we need to." Astin added.

"But I'm with Dove in the never built a boat, category. Never even really thought of building one, if I am honest."

It was a wonder how useful muting a comm could be, though Astin didn't so so immediately. Any remorse for sending her the names of the educational material he had in mind were gone though.

After a few moments of blessed silence though he interrupted. "So how is the work going out there Floats?"

"... I never thought I could weaponize Floats' ramblings..." Dove remarked cooly as the sound was muted, with a look on her face that seemed to indicate she would probably carry through on that idea at some point.

"Oh this? Fine and dandy, managed to get most of it spooled back in and I think barring a real big hit the communications are now sturdy and in working order. How's it lookin' in there?"

"Pretty good honestly speaking. I mean most of the lights in here are still out but a lot of the console is no longer blinking red." Which was a small victory.

"Might be we can get this place in real working order."
