Re: [Day 7 - MM] Resistance Meeting [Closed]
"I would like to believe that the Empire could be talked down Bowze. But with the Admiral sitting on the Dictator above Rygor they still hold power even if we can replace Captain Hrugos. Of course, he may be able to provide us with the access codes and related information that are necessary to secure access to the Dictator?" She wished they had more time but it was what it was.

Djanik nodded. "This is a good move to do under the cover of our more overt action."
Glancing between the two leaders, Djanik offered, "It sounds like we have two objectives at play. One, to make a public and bold action which can serve as a rallying point and show of solidarity. Two, to take targeted action to continue to develop our resources and access to Imperial weak points."
Crossing his arms, he said, simply, "Instead of a strike team - we have a full scale operation taking place, while this infiltration happens. You won't get a better distraction, General Gunray."
Glancing at Xanna, he added, "I also would like to believe such a thing, but forgive me for being extremely skeptical - I've seen the MO of the moffs and Navy higher ups - they seem to feel 'why use diplomacy when a hammer will do?'"

"It sounds like the other groups off-planet are thinking of something a lot noisier than sneaking around and taking out one little Captain," Sinnya agreed. She was beginning to get a sense of how to think about the question now. It was a hunting problem, wasn't it, essentially?
"The Dictator's bigger than we are, even adding together everything we've got. How can we set it up so that doesn't matter as much--so it can't use all its advantages?" How do you build a pit trap in space? "What are the chances we can box it in somehow? Up against the station, or another ship, so it can't maneuver." She rubbed her cheek, thinking. "Or... so we don't have enough people to take the whole thing from inside. Could a small team set off a lockdown? Something that big's got to have automatic protocols for fires and vacuum leaks and stuff. Then we don't have to fight the whole crew."

She nodded at Djanik. "Yes, I agree with your assessment, this is why moving against the Dictator seems so necessary."
Sinnya's suggestion made sense to her. "These are good ideas. Something that only requires a small team. Or a few small teams with alternative routes to success."

"As I said before - there are structural weak points - areas where, if we can get an explosive payload into them, the damage would force an expensive refit."
He tapped his screen, pulling up a basic layout of the ISD, and then highlighting the bridge deflectors, the hangar storage behind the bulge on the underside, the main sensor package, forward ordnance depot, and several points along the spine where major power junctions resided.
"Now, how to get a payload to those locations, that's a very difficult question. Forcing entry would be extremely difficult, as would stealth - In a combat situation, if we could drop the shields, a bomber could hit them, but I we don't have that kind of ordnance right now. So our options seem to be man portable... and there are only two targets near the hangars that I would consider feasible for any team that doesn't want to make a one way trip."
He highlighted the forward ordnance storage, along with the sensor suite in the lower hull. "How to get there... you'll have to ask an infantry or security expert - forcing our way in seems... unlikely."

''You misunderstand. I am not talking about diplomacy, at all.'' he tapped a finger on the table ''I misunderstand the fixation on The Dictator. Sabotage is unlikely and assault is unthinkable. We can remove it from the equation easily but not the way you people think.''

"That is where you are incorrect," Dove interjected. "From the holo I observed of Lord Vader, Yulani and her ship The Dictator was sent here to secure the Hypermatter Foundry and Bankor's resources."
"This was before the Resistance as we know it had made any moves. Before the prison break."

''Is that so? But the inquisitors were already on the hunt were they not?...and the resistance is the reason the Aznuri quarter was torched.''
He steepled his fingers
''If what you say is true then they may very well send another if we manage to cripple it...*especially* if we cripple it''

"Not as such." Dak interjected "That was the reason they gave the public but the 13th sister was looking for something and the Aznuri refused to give it to her, that's why they burned the quarter."

"And it is fair to say - what we hope to gain is not a liberation of Bankor, not immediately. I doubt anyone here is so naive as to think we can send the Dictator off to drydock and never see an Imperial ship again."
With a dry laugh, he added, "Yet if we can inflict even moderately crippling damage without giving up our full force, it will provide cover for your team, General, to get the information from the hypermatter foundry that we want - and it also gives us the rallying point we need."
Setting down his datapad, he added, "We have to understand what constitutes victory here - I think we are agreed that we are attempting to accomplish is not full victory, but rather a tactical one. Something we can leverage as we prepare for future conflict."
As Bowze got frustrated, he added, "General, things are still under development. We haven't achieved the kind of organization the old CIS had - you'll have to get used to working with organic allies - with all the foibles we include."

"While I have no love for Hrugos, there are hundreds more like him, ready to fill his boots."
Rubbing the bridge of his nose, he added, "If we can remove him, I support it, but I don't think we get our visible, public show of unity and force unless we hit, at minimum, the station."
Looking at the display, he added, "Are any reinforcements expected from outside? I am fond of my little squadron, but I wouldn't want to pit us against the full complement of the Dictator - she can carry around 60 TIE fighters, with 12 bombers as well, so the Mahon will need to be careful too."

''There may be hundreds like him but he earned a mark. He is also more familiar with what we do and another might be more easily handled.''
He shrugged
''I also planned a hit on the station as as a joint venture with what happens on the ground''

Rayne chimed in, “Assuming we go forward with this we will have outside help the Mon Calmar can give us additional ships already positioned ready to jump into the system. Currently orbiting a nearby singularity, they can hit the station and keep them guessing. This could bring the Dictator into orbit.”
“At which point we can try a number of tactical choices and yes General Gunray I was not holding back I only got the news within the last twelve hours. I had mentioned it before to Master Jedi Xanna, but I have official confirmation now,” he added.
“If they don’t move then I have a very unconventional plan suggested by the King, we ride… on the surface of the ship. Beasts won’t be affected by ECCM,” Rayne said.
“We target key points and plant enough charges to level a moon.”

Djanik grimaced. "I'd prefer to avoid the plan put forward by the Scrap king - you'd be sitting ducks out there, and if the ship lifted out of atmosphere, helpless."
Glancing around, he added, "If we have reinforcements, particularly any ships with reasonable point defense, we could launch a raid on the station - if the Dictator throws most of its complement to defend the station, that would give us an opening to escort teams in - we could knock out point defense near the hangar and plant the explosives there - I doubt we'd have time or transports enough to fully destroy the ship, but we could cripple her."
A slow breath. "It'd be extremely dangerous, but not impossible. If we have other resources to improve our chances, I welcome any and all help we can get..."

"That's why it could work, they wouldn't see it coming," Yusandr said with a shrug. "The Scrap King is a crazy son of an Acklay but he's still breathing and clever."
"I am not saying we should but sometimes doing what everyone thinks is crazy can pay off." As for the force size numbering at twelve, Yusandr tells the table that the force would be mostly escort carriers and carrier craft led by an ornery but clever General.

"Ride? In upper atmosphere?" Sinnya seized on the word in Rayne's explanation that made both the most and the least sense to her. "Isn't that thing too high up for anything but machines to reach?" This whole starship business was admittedly still a new one for her.
