Day 5 - LM (Closed and Expecting)

"At least losing your head would be," Sinn swallowed, "well, faster."

Tumbling loose, the skull had rolled faceup, giving her a better look at its shape. "Looks like they were human, anyway. Or near-human," she said with a faintly hysterical smile as she straightened back up.

"Oh gosh, now I'm feeling guilt about all my past decapitations."
Pause
"Technical school had a real emphasis on self-defence."

[Sinnya]

"...what?" Sinnya looked from Floats to the dead human, then back to Floats again. "Have you, uh, decapitated a lot of people?"

"I--uh--I mean, I never decapitated anybody. Any person," Sinnya added scrupulously; it would be awfully hard to break down an animal carcass without removing the head(s) at some point. "More... than... uh, two or three?"

That's already way too many!

"Darn....okay, yeah, a lot then. But it was never anything personal, you understand? I'd have preferred nobody lost their head at all."
She spreads her palms innocently

"Technical school?" Sinnya echoed, plaintively. She wasn't sure whether she wanted to look anywhere but at Floats, or if she'd better not take her eyes off the person she'd previously taken to be a harmless boat mechanic. Fortunately or otherwise, the only other things to look at inside the dark sinkhole were a desiccated corpse and ... yeah, that was pretty much it... so Floats remained in focus.

Floats was a friend of Sloan. She couldn't be a serial killer or anything like that. "You went to a military academy? Why didn't you say so?"

"Mean....wasn't really a military academy. It's hard to explain.......if I called it 'boarding school' does that help? It wasn't supposed to be a military academy...although I guess with the war and all, that's how it ended up."
Floats seemed so calm, so friendly....just like a serial killer about to strike! Or a calm and friendly boat mechanic....or both!

[Sinnya]

"Uh..." It didn't seem to help, no. "Just don't decapitate me, and we'll be okay," Sinnya managed to formulate, after thinking it all over for a bit. She began folding up the loot--err, cloak, trying not to think too hard about the dust that shook out of it as she did so.

Floats gets a puff of corpse-dust and begins longings for the beach

"I--no! I'd be a really terrible one, considering some of the things I've done lately..." Sinnya giggled in spite of herself.

She took half an eye off Floats for a final look round the sinkhole. "We could keep going down here, if you're not going to chop me into pieces, but maybe we've pushed our luck enough for today."

"I--no! I'd be a really terrible one, considering some of the things I've done lately..." Sinnya giggled in spite of herself.

She took half an eye off Floats for a final look round the sinkhole. "We could keep going down here, if you're not going to chop me into pieces, but maybe we've pushed our luck enough for today."

“I kinda feel that you only get one giant death worm pass. Feels like we might wanna call it here? You can tell me all about the things you’ve been up to while we head up.”

[Sinnya]

"Okay." Sinn tucked the folded cloak under her arm, shrugging. "I should make sure you're not a spy first, considering," she added with a sly smile as she started back up.

"Well that's easy, if you ask an Imperial spy if they're a spy, they have to tell you, it's the law."
Floats follows up, a bit more easily now she's familiar with the terrain

"Spies get to break the law all the time," Sinnya pointed out, keeping her eyes (and light) on the uneven footing ahead. "That's the whole point."

Suspicious "You sure know a lot about spying." There was nothing more suspect than basic knowledge of everyday subjects

"Do I?" Sinnya mused. "Well, you can't trust anybody these days. If they're not Foundry goons or Hutt gangsters, they're inquisitors or secret Jedi or whatever."

Shaking her unhooded heads

Shaking her unhaired head again, now appearing to have some kind of strange tick

"I'm just glad to be completely normal in every way, life would be real complicated otherwise."

"Uh, we just saw a giant worm that might be an ancient curse brought to life, then stole a coat off a corpse. And even before that, there's not many Nautolans on Bankor. Normal is overrated, though, anyway?"

"There's at least one another...you know Mike? Works in Rygor in uh, hospitality? Nautolan Mike? Really there are tonnes of us. Still, I can agree on it being overrated after the ancient curse worm. You got any other ancient curse animals I should know about? Ancient curse boats and such?"

"Before today I would have said I don't know any at all. Curse animals, I mean. But, uh, also Nautolans, actually." Sinnya grunted as she hauled herself over the crumbly lip of the sinkhole. "Now I wonder. What if the Night Sloth and the pox insects and all that stuff from the old songs are real too? If there's really a great wyrm, any of the rest of it could be out there."

"Well that's a comforting thought....wait no, no the opposite of comforting. Those things as bad as they sound?"
Floats jumps out of the sinkhole herself and brushes some dirt off.

"They are... not great." She shrugged. "The Night Sloth can only get you when you're sleeping, so, uh, that's something?"
