In another life (Day 7 Early Afternoon)

"Don't think most folk file me under dashing and romantic, but if any naked women go jumping out any windows near me. I'll try and catch em just for you."

Astin reached the top a few moments after Fllats and he looked down at her with a soft frown. "Think it will hold both if us, or are we both about to go through the deck?"

She peers down at the deck beneath them and gives it a few experimental bounds with a wrench
"Figure it'll hold if we don't do anything too silly. If you fall I'll try and catch you, just for you."
She winks

"Aww, you're so romantic, Floats. Talk like that and I just might fall for you." Astin finished, playfully fluttering his eye lashes.

That was followed by a vocal 'hup' as he hopped down from the tree and onto the boat below. Unfortunately perhaps for Floats, he did so rather gracefully.

"Aww, you're so romantic, Floats. Talk like that and I just might fall for you." Astin finished, playfully fluttering his eye lashes.

That was followed by a vocal 'hup' as he hopped down from the tree and onto the boat below. Unfortunately perhaps for Floats, he did so rather gracefully.

"That wasn't romantic Mr Astin. Romance is, you know, long swims on the beach and going out together for kelp. Though I suppose even a land based boat can be romantic in its own way."
She worries he has something in his eye, but assumes Astin is alright when the fluttering finishes.

"Nice jump too, more graceful than I'd have expected, to be honest."

He shook his head, different species did have different opinions on romance. "Something is telling me what you think of as a long swim and what I do are different things entirely."

"I'll be sure to give that advice to your boyfriend though, if you ever get one." She was more a biat type of girl though, so it was s bit unlikely it'd be sentient enough to understand.

"Yeah, you pick up a few things over the years, can't go falling down when you're trying to make a quick exit out of a window after all."

"Yeah, you pick up a few things over the years, can't go falling down when you're trying to make a quick exit out of a window after all."

"I feel that, felt the same way jumping out of my window, performance anxiety was through the roof. Oh and a long swim is commonly defined as 5kms, which would probably be real long for you folk."

Walking carefully and dodging a few exposed or simply missing panels, Floats makes her way to the stairs down into the hold
"If there's anything good left here it will have to be in there I reckon."

"Yeah, I'm not even sure that I can even swim that far " it wasn't a distance he ever attempted at the very least. Following along he stepped around the missing panels on his way to the stairs. "I wonder if one of those big old sea monsters threw this up here." He mused thoughtfully before returning to the topic.

"You're likely right, though we should watch out for animals that might have made their den in there. Some of em might be poisonous or something."

"Yeah, I'm not even sure that I can even swim that far " it wasn't a distance he ever attempted at the very least. Following along he stepped around the missing panels on his way to the stairs. "I wonder if one of those big old sea monsters threw this up here." He mused thoughtfully before returning to the topic.

"You're likely right, though we should watch out for animals that might have made their den in there. Some of em might be poisonous or something."

"Oh it's possible! Keep an eye out for tooth marks, the telltale sign of a big old sea monster!"
Floats takes out a battered flashlight and gives it a shake before clicking it on, emitting a narrow beam of yellow light into the darkness
"We'll be careful, I'll go first, just in case."
She sticks an arm out protectively in front of Astin as she begins to descend, clearly trying to be prepared for anything.

"Will do." Though he was in no way certain that he would be able to identify toothmarks of that size.

Taking out his own flash light; a somewhat never model then Flosts, he flicked it on, giving the girl a smile. "Alright." He replied, not seeming to mind her protective tendencies.

"It would be neat if he could find something in here that told us how old this is."

"Will do." Though he was in no way certain that he would be able to identify toothmarks of that size.

Taking out his own flash light; a somewhat never model then Flosts, he flicked it on, giving the girl a smile. "Alright." He replied, not seeming to mind her protective tendencies.

"It would be neat if he could find something in here that told us how old this is."

"There should be a little plaque above the engine, might help us identify her if she's still there."
The Nautolan descends a few more steps until they're into the hold proper, dark but illuminated by the occasional shaft of light from a tree puncture. A few small furry creatures scuttle away and a snake gives them a look before slithering away and deeper into the ship, but thankfully nothing seemefd to have made the boat there home.

"Whew, was worried they'd be something terrible down here."

Astin wasn't sure what the young woman might considet terrible, sea monsters were after all something she rather liked. "What were you thinking you would find? Some sort of slime monster?" He asked, as he shined his light around the interior of the hold. He didn't think he had sent her anything that stared those, but honestly he had forgotten was all had been in some of those videos.

"Still glad it seems safe enough, I reckon we will have more worries about stepping throough the floor then anything else."

She careful begins to negotiate the hold, heading for the middle rear of the ship where the engine might be, a few panels creak alarmingly under her weight and she hurries off them

"Wait, slime monsters exist? There was this one on Warrior's Heart but the little disclaimer at the start of the show said it was a work of fiction."

"That is if all of you falls, and not just half of you." Which would make for an unpleasant experience all on it's own, If a slightly different one. Folowing the Nautolan, he made sure to watch his step and try to avoid the overly creaky panels that Floats stepped oon as they made their way deeper into the boat.

"Sure, I've never encountered one myself, but if there are Sea monsters and Dragons there is bound to be slime monsteres out there somewhere. Probably in a swamp though, or maybe an industrial wasteland?" He offered thoughtfully. "I mean shows like Warrior's Hearts have to get their ideas from somewhere."

"I didn't see any in the wasteland....do you think giant worms eat slime monsters? Might be symbiotic. But swamps make sense probably all sorts of nasties in there."

There's a door rusted half shut and Floats puts her shoulder into it, slowly force it open and poking her head inside.
"Ah huh! Down there's where the engine was before that tree went right through it. Above it should be the information plaque if you want to take a look."

"The definitely could, I mean they have to eat something or they would never become giant." His mother had always talked about that, not that eating good had made him six foot tall though. He glanced towards Flosts. Maybe he hadn't eaten enough beans.

"Oh sure." Astin replied moving over towards where Floats pointed out. "Do these things just point out when the boat was made? Or does it have a bit more current information?"

"The definitely could, I mean they have to eat something or they would never become giant." His mother had always talked about that, not that eating good had made him six foot tall though. He glanced towards Flosts. Maybe he hadn't eaten enough beans.

"It should just be name, year of make, designer and planet of origin, nothing too fancy."
Floats finds herself thinking about beans, beaaaans

"I'm gonna have a putter about up here looking for any of that good scrap."

Climbing up to have a look, Sstin brushed off the plaque. "Can't read the name seems to be about sixty years old though." Sadly not as old as he was hoping for. "Msde here to."

Making his way back down he started his own search for useable parts. "If I had to bet, I'd say it's been here for quite a few of those though."

"Bad way for a boat to go, flung up here and then just slowly falling apart. No name, no family. Makes one feel a certain sense of mortality."

"Though ya know, with a bit or work we night be able to repurpose her. Make her into a secret boat cabin or something like that." Ok, maybe it would be a lot if work.

Her eyes widen as she put her hands on her hips and gives the boat a much longer, more intimate look.
"You serious? You'd do that with me?"

"Well, it would be nice to have a bolt hole here." Someplace that wasn't the base. "And if we are careful no one will think it's anything else but an abandoned old boat."

"So of you want to, sure."

" 'Course I want to! Who wouldn't want a top secret old boat base? We could have parties in here and every night you'd get to sleep in a boat, it would be perfect!"

Astin decided not to point out that you really didn't have parties in a secret base, no reason to be a downer. "Well, whenever we have time then we can come up here and get to work."

"While were scavenging around we can pick up other stuff we might need to fix this place up."

"Of course! Sealing tape, some lights, a portable generator, everything a base needs. It will be a nice backup to my secret cottage."

"It's always nice to have a back up. I take it that secret cottage of yours didn't get raided?" It wouldn't be too much of a secret anymore if it did.

"Im sure we can gather most of that up pretty easily though."
