Not much for a kid that young to do on the streets to survive so I learned to steal, stowed away, got off Coruscant and never looked back. Maybe it's not the ideal but it's better than the life that was heading for me if I stayed, I think, least now I got skills.. I, well," she shrugged, not sure where to continue with the thread and beside that something else he'd said finally caught up with you.

“Okay, that works, but let’s take it one step at a time, baby. We need to take one down first before we start breaking the whole damn thing, but I am with you. So first we go for the Disciple, you have the credentials which makes it a hell of a lot easier. The Wall and his goons might be a problem, but there is a paltry bounty out… still I don’t like that loose end,” she said thinking.

“I am going to do some deliveries in the city and get a better idea of what we are up against, we might get lucky and not have to do anything with those massive rewards pulling every wanna-be bounty hunter out of the ether.”

She finished with, “I doubt most will get the job done.”

"I uh, I guess? I was just talking to an old nemesis earlier today and I think that.....yeah, I'm in until the galaxy is a better place. I don't really think of myself as an insurgent...or someone who wants to die."

Vaya nodded encouragingly, in approval of avoiding self-sacrifice.

"What about you? I mean, you could probably get a good job somewhere. You got a good brain, the looks, personable. You could be professor Vaya somewhere nice, if you wanted."

Vaya was too busy aggressively waving off the flattery to ask Fathynyu if she wanted to be downing them quite that fast.

“You need connections to get interesting jobs. I could be Professor Vaya somewhere nice and boring. Get tenure in some Rimmer sector’s premiere university of the agricultural sciences.” She shook her head, took another gulp as if to wash away the thought, and looked morosely into her glass. “I only got to Bar’leth in the first place by hustling, got a Professor to accept me as a grad student by hustling, got research grants for the Professor to pay for me by hustling. I hustled my way all the way to a Doctorate, and on to the radar of someone who offered me a real interesting job.” She sighed, then forced herself to brighten. “That didn’t work out, but I’ve got some pretty good leads now. For an archaeologist without portfolio.”

Maxxy was going to say something and instead opted to just try and have a good time.

Vaya caught part of the interaction, maybe with her antennapalps, and tried to wave the annoyed woman over.

Meanwhile the band continued with another song. Trion introduced it with a smile and said, "This one goes out to the Resistance, we believe in you and we are thankful."

Vaya joined in with the Bistro’s approving and generally raucous reaction to the sentiment with applause and a piercing two-finger whistle, although for her a lot of it was for Trion.

The kid had immediately endeared herself to Vaya. “Isn’t it?” she said enthusiastically. She gestured to the Nautolan. “This is Fathynyu, or ‘Floats’ if your tongue’s tripping. I’m Vaya.”

"Hi Floats, and Hi Vaya, thanks for the warm welcome! Oh I'm Maxxy!" she added.

Dak shrugged "I know Vandil, you've made her a lot of money, she wont want to let go of a valuable asset like that. Plus I was there the night you asked to cut ties, could've told you from the way she said it that she didnt mean yes." He said taking a drink.

"Ah" she said, taking a moment to glance around the room. Was a little weird, seeing people enjoy themselves more openly as they were. Some she'd even considered friends.

Back to Jurdak, though, "Made a lot of wrong moves after putting my hope in the wrong places. I wouldn't expect," she shrugged, "well, that's a personal matter. One I'll have to deal with, point is she still needs me and that keeps me and my family safe," she stopped herself from saying the next, for now.

"Ah" she said, taking a moment to glance around the room. Was a little weird, seeing people enjoy themselves more openly as they were. Some she'd even considered friends.

Djanik found himself halfway through his drink.

Slouching back in the booth he wondered how, now that he was part of a movement, he was somehow more isolated than before.

She waved at Djanik and then added, “Rebellion sounded more fun than just carrying boxes around the galaxy so here I am.”

With a quick look at what everyone else was drinking, Ria'la decided to move on to the Wild Acklay, if they had any.

She waved at Djanik and then added, “Rebellion sounded more fun than just carrying boxes around the galaxy so here I am.”

"Oh wow! I was a boat mechanic myself, before the rebellion. Score one for us little people!"
The big Nautolan gives her a thumbs up

"Yeah everything's kinda influx, I think half the resistance have announced they're in charge of something or they're the only ones who understand something. Real nice to see all the enthusiasm and excitement going on."

She marveled at the casualness with which people were willing to go against the Galactic order, even with the Clone Wars having been lost, and won, some four years before. But a lot of these people were even more of children then. She wondered when she left Bankor, which she was sure she would do soon, how many of the people in this room would still be alive and at liberty. How many a year from now?

She tried to chase away the morbid thoughts with more grog. "Someone made me a lieutenant, if you can believe it," she said.

Vaya laughed. "At ease, bosun!" She raised her glass in a toast. "I'm not sure if Bowze'll make it stick, anyway. Or if I want him to. Might be as good as a death mark, a comission in... whatever this is." Oops. There were those morbid thoughts again. She took another drink.

"I.." she was stunned, almost to complete disbelief, and on that note, "but.. are you sure? I mean, you know Vandil and I've.. I'm in deep, and I don't know if you know the full extent of her, or the situation."

"Even," she paused, having found a thread that she needed to explore, "how can you even continue to trust me knowing about my debt? Between the resistance and my brother..." she didn't finish, she probably didn't need to.

He reached out and pat her hand "Hey calm down there Karath, Vandil is in a precarious situation right now and she cant add another enemy to her plate. Trust me I know Vandil, I know her type and I know her very well."

He fixed her with a soft but serious look "Cathar are pack animals if you make it in you're in and I trust you. I look out for my own."

"I-" she stopped herself from countering that thought, maybe she could manage both. Be capable of being trustworthy despite the compromised position she was in. Jenna wasn't sure, she couldn't be sure, but.. maybe if she took a few lessons from those around her she could at least find that hope and fight for it.

Djanik saw the wave and misinterpreted it as an invitation. Thinking about it for a moment, he finally decided to roll with it, and rose, headed over.

When he arrived, and saw the conversation continuing apace, he began to wonder if he had misinterpreted the gesture.

A halfhearted salute, and he inquired, "Did you need anything Maxxy? I see you've met Lt. Mer'darrow."

"I-" she stopped herself from countering that thought, maybe she could manage both. Be capable of being trustworthy despite the compromised position she was in. Jenna wasn't sure, she couldn't be sure, but.. maybe if she took a few lessons from those around her she could at least find that hope and fight for it.

"Alright, then.." she paused, flashed him a short smile, "thank you."

He smiled back "No problem Jenna. We'll find a way to deal with her, get her to leave you alone. Just promise this goes both ways, you gotta be open with me about everything going on if you want me to help. I can only do that if I have all the info I need."

"Can't promise I will," she said, thinking about all the things that it was better not to say. My brother's a Jedi, was one naturally, but at this point it was likely that Jurdak already knew that. Still, it served its purpose for the understanding, some things were just dangerous to say right now, still, despite the resistance and despite the help offered.

"However," she relented a bit, "I will try to keep you informed of what I can. Part of what I do now, huh?"
