In another life (Day 7 Early Afternoon)

"It's always nice to have a back up. I take it that secret cottage of yours didn't get raided?" It wouldn't be too much of a secret anymore if it did.

"Im sure we can gather most of that up pretty easily though."

"Nope! They got my home...and my business....and my reputation...but not my cottage!"

Floats starts scanning the boat as a possible home away from home now, her more critical eye peering over the structural weaknesses
"Let's just hope the empire don't capture the main base again, I'm not sure we have a backup backup"

"At least, not that I know of."

"Good to know." Astin offered with a smile. "That woman you're helping out still needing a job them? I hesitated a bit looking being that were kinda wanted again and I wasn't sure if she would be too."

That was a good thing to hope for, he couldn't deny that. "Kinda think our back up for a back up is to get the heck off of Bankor. Pretty sure we aren't going to have any other bases here. Not big ones at least."

"Good to know." Astin offered with a smile. "That woman you're helping out still needing a job them? I hesitated a bit looking being that were kinda wanted again and I wasn't sure if she would be too."

That was a good thing to hope for, he couldn't deny that. "Kinda think our back up for a back up is to get the heck off of Bankor. Pretty sure we aren't going to have any other bases here. Not big ones at least."

"I think she still needs the job, although maybe a resistance one wouldn't be so bad, so long as she was real far back from the frontlines. I kinda feel the empire dragged her into this willing or not. But hey, we got more skimmers needing fixin' now, so maybe it's the force?"

Nodding at the sensible bailing strategy
"You think we'd just leave? Up sticks and go permanently?"

"That might be for the best, if anyone makes a connection between her and you, well it could get her into some trouble she isn't wanting." Opening up a cabinet he spotted a dusty tool kit and pulled it out. "Otherwise I can look into a few leads, though some of those aren't much better."

At the question he shrugged. "I think it's a possibility, don't know how big of one though. I mean if the Imps find that base, what other choices do you think we have?"

Floats is all eyes on the dusty tool kit, they're like opening presents on life day morning!

"I guess staying and fighting would be a mite bit suicidal. It kinda feels like the empire has been holding back a little, but eventually they'll come down hard."

"That might work, but the Imos don't seem too discerning about those sort of things. Heck the ran everyone out of those apartments complexes only a few members of the resistance were staying in." Made for a whole mess of homeless people.

Seeing Floats wide eyes, Astin pushed the toolkit her way. "Why don't you see what's in there."

"Yeah, that's the way I see it." They seemed to have their own agendas here after all, even if he didn't know what they were.

"If it helps, they're mainly looking to capture and torture jedi, so you'll kinda be a secondary target if it comes to it."
Floats eagerly opens up the toolkit and ignoring the puff of dust from within, starts pulling out old spanners and wrenches
"A mk48! These things are collectors items, they got the little magnetic teeth on the end, real useful. Can't believe they stopped making them."

"Oh, I'm sure that's likely to change a bit if thisc rebellion thing really gets up and moving." There were only so many jedi after all, and there were a lot more members of the rebellion.

"Me either." Astin replied looking the piece over. "That one look like it still works? Or is it to be filed under paperweight?"

"Well I certainly hope the rebellion gathers a little steam, don't wanna be doing this my whole life you know, didn't really want to be doing it for any of my life."
She turns the wrench this way and that before whacking it loudly against the hull, it bends slightly
"Paperweight, too many years with not enough care. Same happens to people....well, not the rust, outside of Gands, but you get my point."

"This might come as a shock to you, but most folks aren't interested in giant bright red boat mechanics. I mean, not that I want them to be!...And not that I don't want them to be!"

At the mention of women she quickly busies herself with what's left of the tool bag. Tools tools tools!

Shaking his head he glanced towards the bag. "Anything else interesting in there?"

She shakes her head but takes the bag anyway, always need a big sometime

"Plus you already convinced not to try and date force girls." He replied as he started to pack up his stuff and look around the area.

"Sounds good, but any ideas of the best way out of here. Seems to me it's a might big drop from the deck."

"We can probably go right down to the bilge and kick open a panel, if we lower ourselves down the drop isn't too bad."

"That would run into the complications that I don't intend to date anyone, so I think I'll stick with teasing you a bit like I did my little sisters." And avoid the compliments since they seemed to make her uncomfortable.

"Well, I'm not sure what the bilge is, but it doesn't sound pleasant. Still I figure it's better then a broken leg."

She pulls open a panel and sure enough there is a narrow trench of dirt and detritus below

"Wait, you ain't dating anyone at the moment? I thought you were always dating someone or multiple someone's? Everything alright?"
She starts kicking the trench and the metal groans as it begins to give way.

"It just sounds like an unpleasant place, if you don't know what it is. You know, kinda like how alot of people don't really like the moist."

Observing the trench he moved to help out Floats if he could. "It's semantics really, I don't really think that in the middle of being chased around by the Imps is a proper time for a relationship. What I'm after is a one night stand, or friends with benefits, not like an actual relationship with multiple dinners and cuddling on sofas."

Together they're able to kick a panel loose, revealing bright sunlight from below

"But I guess it's real complicated dating someone when you're a wanted criminal. Not that I'd know really...about the dating, the criminal I get."
Determinedly
"I do hope you get your snuggles one day. Maybe you'll meet a nice young woman who also wants casual you know what, then you two can do you know what, and then who knows what might happen?"

"Oh, I've had girlfriends in the past Floats, I'm perfectly aware of what I'm missing out on." He looked her way and raised an eyebrow. "Bit surprised about your expertise on the subject though."

Stepping out into the light he flicked out his glowrod and placed it away. "That will be a while if and when it happens. See, I'm a big believer that one thing a relationship needs to succeed is stability. So me committing to a relationship will mean leaving all the behind, the rebellion, fighting oppression, fleeing authorities. Not really ready for that yet."

"Still, thanks Floats."

"I watched a lot of Czerka life day movies after Petrus introduced me to vids, it's pretty clear how important snuggling is from them."
Following him out into the bright island sun

"Well, I'm still sorry you gotta make those sacrifices, but I'm glad they're for a good reason."
