Day 8 LA: Grand Strategy
Re: Day 8 MA: Grand Strategy
Djanik stepped forward, setting a datapad on a table on the outer rim of CIC.
Then he came to attention and stood silently.

''Pityful spies since I clearly stated that in the meeting yesterday!'' he was about to slow clap that statement when Djanik came to attention
''Captain Djanik?''

"I don't insult your people so get the hell out before I punch you into next week," she said looking at him narrowing her eyes.

Djanik saluted when addressed, and inquired, simply, "Permission to speak freely?"

Bowze was nearly boiling over but restrained himself if only for Djanik's sake

Re: Day 8 MA: Grand Strategy
Djanik nodded, and switched to an at-ease stance.
Then he spoke, voice level, controlled, and carrying.
"Commander, you have insulted General Gunray, and not just him, but those working with him."
Before she could interrupt, he carried on, giving his disposition with the clarity and pace of a mission briefing. "You have, in fact, called into question the motives of every single rebel working with him - me, my squad, the jawas, the ex CIS soldiers, the chiss mechanic, the balosar historian... we have been working overtime for weeks preparing ourselves to undertake this mission - putting every resource we have into this fight, in order to tip the scales as much as we can in favor of this operation. I've worked with these ex-CIS soldiers, even knowing they may have caused the deaths of my old comrades, because now, at this time, it is necessary to unite in the face of a common foe. To show faith in a greater cause. We are not fools, or criminals, with some hope of a payout at the end. We are in this fight because we believe in it."
A breath, "General Gunray has already freely given intelligence to this movement, has risked the location and existence of a secure facility to provide an advantage on this mission, and you are now accusing him of attempting to take and hoard things away for himself - without cause, beyond his eagerness to obtain actionable intelligence. Yes, he wants to strike the foundry, and no, he doesn't want to attack the Dictator - General Gunray is a conservative tactician with a preference for extended maneuver and limited engagement. Nonetheless, he has agreed to risk nearly every asset he has collected on this attack , despite his misgivings."
His gaze could well have bored a hole through the far wall, but on he went. "I choose to give you this feedback here and now in the interest of seeing this mission succeed - we are already going against terrible odds. If we don't show trust in one another, we will fail. Tying up forces watching each other, rather than pursuing our objectives, will only weaken us in the moment of battle. If they do not have faith in our comrades to do their part, then our people cannot not give themselves to the mission unreservedly. Commander, we have placed our trust in this movement, and in you. Give us trust in return. The purpose of this entire attack is to make a bold declaration of unity against the odds... let us not undermine that before we even begin! An army divided against itself cannot achieve victory."
Going back to attention, he concluded, "If you believe I have spoken out of turn, or if my advice to you proves wrong, I submit myself for punishment."

Re: Day 8 LA: Grand Strategy
Yusandr listened, it was at least a good speech. "I appreciate the input, but I trust my Intelligence team, you need to decide now, you either fly for the Resistance or you fly for the CIS, and if you fly for the latter I can get someone else to fly your ship."
OOC: That's a Deception check because you know he is trying to steal data and covering for Bowze. It's a good roll though. Difficulty is 1 red and and two purple and a Destiny flip. Two setback as he really does not trust the motives of the CIS, but a boost die for the speech. You do not have to roll if you believe he is telling the truth but her issue is with Bowze.

Re: Day 8 LA: Grand Strategy
Djanik was visibly angry when she said she'd replace him, and he stated, firmly. "You don't like someone insulting your people, well don't bring mine into this either. I have a responsibility to those pilots - you know that. You can't just swap their flight lead the night before a mission and expect things to end well for them!"
Trying to restrain himself, he stated, calmly, "If you need to put someone else in my fighter, fine, but I'll still be out there - in my own ship if I have to be. I'm not sending those kids into danger alone!"
Looking between the two, he stated, simply, "If you can't trust us... can't trust me, after all this, then fine. Send your team. Watch. Watch as we do what we said we would do. Maybe then you'll give us half the respect you give the Jedi, or the Scrap King, or even those former inquisitors."
Saluting, he handed over his datapad. "Squadron readiness reports, Ma'am."
Then he pivoted on his heels and marched from the room.

Yusandr frowned and made some personnel adjustments, "We'll swap in Viks for flight lead, not ideal but they know the operation and the pilots involved. General, this is how it goes down. I trust the instincts of my people, they don't trust you, this is how it goes. You can see yourself out."

Re: Day 8 LA: Grand Strategy
''I will do no such thing, commander.'' Bowze replied while straightening himself while shedding the hunched, worried look of the typical nemoidian
''I don't care about who you trust. I do not care about any petty grievances your people have against mine.'' he stepped closer ''This is war, not some shitty holovid drama. The only thing I care about are the lives you will gamble with tomorrow.''
He paused, staring straight in her eyes
''I think your plan is nonsense and void of foresight...but if you *really* are going to send people out there tomorrow it is my duty to my own conscience to make sure that as many of them survives either for the next fight or to see their families once again. Now, you either show me you plan so I can give you my counsel of the matter or bear the weight of what will come alone.''
He folded his arms Inside his robes
''As for the foundry it will be my officer, Dredgen Huk, who will select those of your people that shall accompany him. He's the mission lead so he is the best to decide who can help, or failing that, who will not put his gang's safety in jeopardy with lack of discipline.''

Dove and Jurdak? Dove? Are they the ones trying to rip this endeavor appart?
''It will be done. You also should but Djanik back in chrage of his squadron, their chances of survival are better with him in the lead.''
He paused
''Now, show me the plans already. Enough time has been wasted on unfounded gossip''

''You must understand that Captain Djanik as seen the lives of his mates thrown away by people in command who were more interested in their own professed moral superiority then the needs of the battlefield. I figure you remind him of that.''
A hand waved
''Shall we proceed?''

Re: Day 8 LA: Grand Strategy
"I care about my people and the mission, you think I enjoy sending people off to die... I didn't ask to lead this, people just keep looking to me. If people want to hate me fine, it comes with the job. My people had concerns I voiced them, he can disagree, but I am honest with my people. That's all I want, if you want to steal from the Imps, have at it, just be up front about it. We have to fund this operation somehow," she said honestly.
She handed over her plans for the attacks.
"I am willing to work with you, we just need to work on our definition of honesty and open, both sides."

Re: Day 8 LA: Grand Strategy
''We do and I rather divert ressources going to the imperial war machine the overly rely on people that are already stretched thin. If I lacked precision about what we would do with what we could find is because I do not know for certain of what is there. I have an educated guess, of course, but dividing the findings before actually finding it is selling the wampa's pelt before killing it.''
He began looking over the plans
''Like Captain Djanik said: I am a conservative strategist.'' he paused paying more attention to what was presented ''Can you give me the rundown in your own words?''
