You're Not Gonna Believe [Day 8, EE]

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus took a deep breath. "Well... I don't know. It's important, as a Jedi, to be aware of where you are now. The present. Looking too far to the future is something we need to be careful about. So... we'll see." He smiled. "That does all sound really great, though." And he did like Xanna very much...

He cleared his throat. "Weekly visits, huh? Are you gonna have a guest room up for us?" It wasn't clear whether his use of the plural was a conscious one.

[Jenna Karath]

"On my little farmhouse? I'll make sure of it," she said, speaking as if lost on the dream for a time, "Wouldn't really be the place I want it to be without it. Need a place for my family, every part of my family. That includes Xanna too, and Sloan, and Liua even."

"I think it's important," she sighed, "to have those dreams, to be able to still have those dreams. I felt.. lost, when I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Just gotta.. gotta hope for that light, otherwise I'm not sure I have much strength left on my own."

[Petrus Karath]

"Oh good." Petrus said, smiling and amused. "Especially one for Liua. She did great against the Inquisitor, you know."

"It is important." Nodding, Petrus agreed. "I think I forgot how important hope is, these last few years." He took a breath. "Now I remember. But yeah, you should have hope. Even when everything seems hopeless."

Petrus made a face. "I know, that sounds stupid. But... you know what I mean."

[Jenna Karath]

"Liua did great against... Who?" she asked, her brow furrowed tightly.

[Petrus Karath]

"Oh." Petrus cleared his throat. "Well, right. The head Inquisitor attacked the Jedi temple. We defeated him."

Smiling, Petrus shook his head. "I know it seems like that should be big news. But... it doesn't feel like it. Not compared to becoming a Knight."

He shrugged. "Anyway, it happened. The temple should be safe. Doesn't seem like he told anyone where we were."

[Jenna Karath]

"Are you.. are you sure about that though? You just.. you, you took down the head Inquisitor and that's not.. that's not big news? Petrus!" she half shouted. There was a strange mix to her voice, anger, elation, and fear.

[Petrus Karath]

"Well, me, about five other Jedi, and a hologram with a blaster turret." Petrus shrugged. "I mean, I guess it's big news for the resistance. A major enemy defeated, and all that."

He raised his hands. "Hey, don't yell. I wasn't trying to hide it. It's just..." He took a deep breath. "It's hard for me to explain. The Trial was the real test. I learned some stuff about myself. Important stuff. Stopping the Inquisitor... was just doing what needed to be done. And, after this morning, I didn't really have any doubt."

He offered her a careful smile. "Still... yeah, okay, that probably matters to other people. Sorry."

[Jenna Karath]

"It matters to me you," she thought to kick at him again but held herself back from it, didn't want to let her anger get him kicked in the face as hard as she might right now, "ugh, this could mean.. I don't.. I don't know what this means but the head Inquisitor attacked you! Attacked you all, and you're just... It's just.. it's not a small thing!"

[Petrus Karath]

"No, I guess not." Petrus said, chuckling. Prudently, he slid back out of kicking range. "But I wanted to know what was going on with you. And then there were my trials..." He took a deep breath.

"So... yeah. It's over anyway." He sighed. "Today was big, but I feel like tomorrow's gonna be even bigger."

[Jenna Karath]

"Tomorrow.." she thought, she glanced away. Tomorrow terrified her for reasons that made her feel lucky in another sense. Why did the Empire have to cause this, to turn something as good as finding people to care about into something that only makes her dread.

"Suppose you're going to be fighting the good fight with everyone tomorrow then? Show the world you're.. well, you? A Jedi? And not like you have but.. maybe even openly, not that it'll matter if you are anymore at that point. Think after tomorrow.. think we're all just gonna be rebels at that point. Not sure if that's a good thing," she said, glancing back, a shrug. "Doesn't really matter though, we'll be there right? Karath siblings helping to liberate Bankor? Oughta be quite the sight. Wonder what.." she shook her head, they didn't matter. Never did.

[Petrus Karath]

"You and me." Petrus said, smiling gently. "Along with all the rest of our friends. That's how we do it. Together."

He took a deep breath. "And then we'll see about the day after tomorrow. But it's still gonna be you and me. Just wanna make sure that's clear."

[Jenna Karath]

"Good," she said with a soft smile, breaking out into a smirk, "didn't wanna give up the family I fought for that easily. Tomorrow Bankor.. after that," she shrugged, "we make it through that and we got a whole galaxy at out fingertips. Not sure.. not sure how safe Bankor will be but, but.." she wondered again, "could have a home here.. a farm, I found."

"Might have you come check it out. The old owners left and," she shrugged, "I don't think they're coming back. Not getting a whole lotta use out there, all on its own. Was thinking I'd head there get a chance to think some more, breath.. work on something that gives me some hope for a future."

[Petrus Karath]

"Whoa. Okay." Petrus said. He sat back, looking daunted. "So, there's actually something you're looking at, huh? A real place?"

He shook his head. "I guess I didn't realize just how close this dream of yours is." A brief pause. "So... where is it? Jaklu area?"

[Jenna Karath]

"Out over there, yea," she said, she shrugged, "it wasn't really.. close, I guess but.. maybe, maybe it is? Needs more, needs to really be made back into a home. Relatively good shape, they'd not left it behind for long. Would be a shame to let the place just fall to disrepair. Couple hands, some cleaning.. maybe," she shrugged again.

"Nice place to lay low for a while, should anything happen."
