She nodded. "I don't want to run anymore. I don't want to leave friends to die."

[Dove Gray]

"Running away isn't always a bad thing. It's important to know when to run, and when to take a stand," Dove offered in a friendly tone. "Running to fight another day can be a good thing too. You're still young, so don't throw away your life yet."

[Zerras Blume]

"If I can make a difference, I have to try. That's all." she responded. "Things are going to get bad here."

[Dove Gray]

"It will be bad, yes. War is bad. It's not pretty, at all."

She gave the young woman a careful look. "But... for a lot of people in the galaxy, that small light of hope could be extinguished if all of you were to die. So keep that in mind. There is much one can do without dying heroicly."

[Zerras Blume]

She nodded. "Keep yourself safe, too."

[Dove Gray]

Dove chuckled. "Sweetie, I'm much more expendable than a young Jay like yourself. I'm not a beacon of hope, or someone who is a rallying point for a growing Resistance. Kriff, many of them probably dislike me for my past affiliations, or for all the crimes I've committed."

"Of course, I'll do my very best until the better end to make sure you guys don't have to suffer under this Empire, but that's my job. That's my mission. Don't worry about me."

[Zerras Blume]

"The beacon of hope is life itself." she shook her head. "Every life matters. We need to make sure every moment counts."

[Dove Gray]

"I'll remember that about life the next time I see a swarm of mosquitoes", Dove said with a playful laughter in her voice.

[Zerras Blume]

"I doubt the Empire sees us as much more than pests." she shrugged. "That's their mistake."

[Dove Gray]

"That I will agree on. They'll be underestimating just how much small pests like us can do," she agreed, nodding.

"But to think of something nicer, since this is your first time seeing the ocean; have you gone for a swim yet?"

[Zerras Blume]

"Not yet." She looked at the waves and grinned. "Is there anything I should be wary of?"

[Dove Gray]

"Here in the shallows? Nah. Might be some seashells you could step on, but you're fine."

She didn't need to tell the girl about the seamonsters out there in the deep. The dreaded deep.

[Zerras Blume]

"It was nice to meet you." she turned her smile to Dove. "I'm sure we'll meet again."

[Dove Gray]

"I'm sure we will, sweetie. See you around," she smiled in return, giving the girl an encouaging wave.

And she figured she'd keep an eye on the kid swimming in the ocean for the first time.

Zerras ran directly into the waves. There was an eagerness as she dove in and began swimming against the surf.

[Dove Gray]

Watching the youthful exuberance at work, Dove smoothed out her drying hair, keeping a watchful eye on the kid swimming about.

She had to look after these Jedi kids, after all. That was the job.

Laughter could be heard, from time to time, as she'd let the waves carry her towards shore and swim back out.

[Dove Gray]

Dove reminded herself that the girl was one of them Jedis... she'd probably be fine. What's the worst that could happen here in the shallows.

Smoothing out her towel, the Arkanian Off-shoot lay back with her arms behind her head, and relaxed in the sun with her eyes closed. Maybe dozing off, but she wouldn't admit to that.

It was nice to enjoy a calm moment for a little while. Tomorrow it would all change, for better or worse.
