Liua listened and then said, "So this whole time you sleemos have been Jedi and didn't even tell me!"

"I thought you were lame... but if you fight the Empire then I forgive you, kind of."

Xanna gave her new friend a sly look. "Well now, we cannot go around telling every being we meet. Not even every being we save from Stormtroopers."

"But thank you, I am glad you forgive us."

Petrus chuckled. "Totally worth it. Does this mean I can get a promotion to junior dishwater?"

"You have not even washed a dish yet!" she said narrowing her eyes.

Solemnly, Petrus pointed at his temple. "Battles are won, or dishes are washed, in the mind."

His lips quirked, not quite able to keep a totally straight face.

"I take it back, this one is totally a sleemo," she said going back to eating, but she managed a smile at least.

With a smile of his own, Petrus resumed eating. The eggs were quite good, after all, just as promised.

[Oraka Hin]

The old farmer finally took a seat to eat and said, “I have a cabin deep in the wilds, if we wish to meet in the future that would be best, especially knowing the Inquisitor here.”

“I am not sure how to broach the topic but if you wish to stand against the Inquisitor, as I know we must then you will need training. We are not warriors but we are defenders and keepers of the peace and we cannot shirk that duty.”

“I know the Force means for me to guide you, just as you have guided me.”

[Xanna Teevou]

She nodded without hesitation. "When the student is ready, the master appears. If you are willing to be my guide, I am willing to learn. Thank you, Oraka."

She took a few bites of the food and nodded her appreciation. Suddenly she was ravenous. "Oh my goodness, this is incredible." Clearly he had spent four years learning how to cook.

"If you give us the coordinates we can meet you at the cabin. When do we start? And where can I get more of these eggs?"

Slowly, Petrus nodded. "We must have been brought together for a reason. First yesterday, then today. The smallest events can shape a destiny..."

He chuckled, grinning at Xanna's sudden appetite. Although... "And if you've got any more cram-berries..." Petrus put in.

[Dapper Dog]

“We share what we have, right?” she said to her father.

“I will give you plenty of eggs and cram berries, so don’t worry. On the house, which is rare for me,” Veras joked with a war smile. She was taking these revelations in stride in truth she always suspected there was more to her father and now this just revealed her suspicion was true.

The truth was hard to fathom, but it was the truth and he trusted her with it.

[Oraka Hin]

The old farmer said to Xanna, “We will start tomorrow, together.”

[Brother Sloan]

He looked at Sloan. "What do you think your friends would say to all of this?"

"I'm unsure." Sloan shook his head. "Opinions on which actions, or lack thereof to take are varied among the Enclave." His thoughts turned to his mentor and her rational hesitance towards direct involvement.

He spoke little in the following conversation, enjoying the home cooked meal and carefully considering the words of the others. The conversation seemed surreal.

Three. Three jedi. Are at this table.

Slowly, Petrus nodded. "We must have been brought together for a reason. First yesterday, then today. The smallest events can shape a destiny..."

The old farmer said to Xanna, “We will start tomorrow, together.”

Sloan was sure the words were directed to his two Jedi compatriots, but he knew the Calm's calling had guided him here for a reason.

"I'll be there." He spoke up resolutely, breaking his string of silence. "If you'll have me of course..."

The old farmer responded, “This laowai would be honored to have you.”

He ate quietly.


Liua added, “I guess if these three are going, count me in, someone needs to protect big guy’s knees.”

Mahon politely declined but was happy to see everything worked out.

[Xanna Teevou]

"Thank you Veras, I will pay you for the eggs though. They are for the soup kitchen I run in Rygor." She looked at Oraka. "You know, I have a few credits set aside. If there are parts you need for your ship, maybe I can buy them for you? Or if there are major things you need there are places we could look, where old ships have laid at rest out in the wilderness."

She felt happy and embraced the warmth it because she knew all too well that this could be fleeting. A little colour returned to Xanna's cheeks and she gave Sloan and Liua a nod. It seemed Team Road Trip was official now, although they might need a new name. "Laowai, I have heard this before. It is something the Aznuri call outsiders?"

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus inclined his head slowly. "We would be honored, master."

He glanced over at Liua curiously, then over at Xanna more significantly, his eyebrows going up, eyes flickering towards Liua. It was hard to pantomime "do you think our teenage smoker is Force sensitive", but Petrus thought he did an alright job of it.

[Brother Sloan]

He bowed his head again to the man formerly known as Oraka. He had no idea what would away him tomorrow but he was positive it was a path worth following.

"The Force wills it."

Liua added, “I guess if these three are going, count me in, someone needs to protect big guy’s knees.”

"I'm glad I can count on you young one." He chuckled again. "I'll do my best to ensure you're prepared to protect my knees. In all seriousness, if you're interested in learning, I've taken on a few students of martial arts. It's like regular art, but with more..ugh..punching and kicking. You may find it much to your liking."

"Laowai, I have heard this before. It is something the Aznuri call outsiders?"

"It is indeed." He nodded in agreement, "...but it carries no negative connotation.There are of course words for outsider that serve that purpose though." He'd heard those ones from Sister Viati at an increasing frequency these past weeks.

[Oraka Hin]

“I got a blaster, but sure I used to beat up kids…” she trailed off and said, “I used to get into fights, but I guess learning to how to fight good, is cool too.”

The old farmer quipped, “Strength comes from knowing you can achieve victory through violence and choosing the path of diplomacy and understanding, Liua. I sense that is the lesson Brother Sloan would like to instill in you. The means to defend yourself, but knowing there is usually another way.”

Liua had to process that as it seemed very backward from her life experiences.


Meanwhile Veras agreed with Xanna and said, “Okay but I am giving you a discount, the Jedi discount, it’s a secret discount and I won’t take no!”

"Perhaps you would teach us about your people one of these days Sloan? I would like to know more if you are willing to share." She watched Liua processing everything and wondered if this was what it was like to have a younger sibling.

"If you will not take no for an answer then I can only accept your generous secret discount Veras." Xanna bowed her head in thanks. "I will be sure to keep it to myself of course." She gave the girl a wink.

[Brother Sloan]

"I'm glad to hear it Liua. We shall begin soon." He'd be sure that the youngest member of the Jays was fully prepared to defend herself.

"It'd be a pleasure to share with you knowledge of my people Xanna. In return might I ask that you share your experiences as well? I'd love to hear more of your home planet and time with the Jedi." Though Sloan of course knew there was no rush to do so, he looked forward to learning about his compatriots in the days ahead.

Silence filled the room as all took a moment to enjoy their meal and the calm before the storm. The stakes were high and they'd only get higher these coming days.

Sloan stood and while visually salivating, lunged his arm toward a tray of deep-fried gorg. An array of dins filled the room as the tray was dragged towards him colliding with several dishes and silverware.

"Apologies." He stated briefly before running through a rack of fried meat fit for a family of Ewok.

Veras just blinked, "Wow... you must be hungry."


"Don't worry I'll teach big guy some manners, or get eaten along the way."

[Petrus Karath]

After a few moments of surprised staring, Petrus chuckled. "Whoa there, big guy. You're making me worry about my fingers. Remember, ours don't grow back the way yours do."

After rescuing his glass from a spill, he nudged the closest serving dish towards Sloan.

"I don't eat fingers." He paused to gnaw on a bone with a bit of flesh still hanging on

"...or younglings" He sucked the bone dry of delicious gorg marrow.

"Yet..." He chortled, shooting a glare at Liua who he'd believed he had spotted attempting to light a cigarette at the nice farmer's dining room table.

Liua narrowed her eyes, pointing two fingers to them and then back to Sloan, “Snitches get stitches, big guy.”

She put her cig away and added, “Be cool big guy or I'll demote you like junior refresher cleaner over there."

"Huh. Must be in addition to my duties as Junior Assistant Dishwasher." Petrus said blandly. Scraping with his spoon, he picked up the last little bit of eggs on his plate, shoveling them into his mouth... albeit with a bit more finesse than Sloan.
