The steel-coloured Zabrak chose a familiar place to be his last stop in the city before departing for the countryside. One or two drinks, maybe a conversation. Among scum and villainy, he kind of belonged and he was able to admit it before himself. He thus acted as if he was taking a reprieve from the typical seedy activities of his underclass and took a seat by the bar.

A woman brushed by a rather brutish gammorean accidentally causing the large woman to spill her drink the human tried to plead but the large alien slugged her and then drew a vibro-knife and said in her language, “I am going to gut you!”

The human was defenseless as she tried to scramble back bumping into Daunt.

[Daunt]

Daunt turned, briefly noticing the frailer of women he focused on the alien one as posing greater danger, with knife bared. He opened his cloak, presenting the trophy armour made of killed beasts.

"You know, drawing blade casually may get you into a fight. I think I was dared to kill and eat a Gammorean yesterday. You think it's fate?"

His gaze flared up menacingly, his body ready for violence.

The large porcine creature grunted and then lowered her weapon and spat on the ground and then said in her language, “Not worth the time.”

She turned and the human woman seemed grateful. She stood and said, “I really stepped in it that time.”

OOC: Fail but use the advantage to have her think better than to engage a pissed off Zabrak.

He gave her a more careful look now that the immediate disturbance was over. "If it happens with some regularity, you should consider carrying a weapon." He wasn't making big of his intervention. After all, the Gammorean wasn't ever cowed.

The woman agreed and said, “Well can I buy you a drink for chasing off that brute? The least I can do… oh kriff you’re someone important I think I saw you the other night talking with the majordomo…”

She got nervous and said, “I really did step in it, poodoo.”

[Daunt]

"No, I am not important. Just odd jobs sometimes." He contemplated her nervousness for a brief moment with a dimmed gaze as his violent urge receded. "You can buy me a drink, and maybe not get worked up too much. In seedy bars knives drawn is Tuesday."

He finished his prior drink quickly to make room for the next. "Do you have a name you want to share?"

She tried to relax and said, “Uhh yeah I do… oh you want to know it, haha, it’s Lyla and I heard your name mister odd jobs… Daunt right? I wasn't listening I swear, okay a little but only cause I always dream it would be really cool to be an important person.”

“Best I can hope for is maybe getting a job at the Foundry and I can’t even manage that but fifth time's the charm right?”

She ordered him a drink and added, “So uhh… is it okay if we talk or should I just go away?”

[Daunt]

"The drinks are on me then, if you're jobless." He said, but he had an odd thought that there was too much of a coincidence in her bumping into a guy whose name she actually knew and who she had remembered from a prior evening. Still, benefit of a doubt for now it was. "Sure, we can talk, Lyla. You can tell me what you've been looking for here, or the next thing on your mind."

"Well maybe a boyfriend to get my mom off my back but really just come here to drink and relax they have good music, sometimes," she replied paying for the drink.

"I am not broke, I do odd jobs, deliveries mostly."

[Daunt]

"You're rather pretty. It shouldn't be hard for you to get a boyfriend, unless the local stock is weak." He drank some. "On second thought, this may not be the best place for it." He glanced around.

He gave her a more discerning look of his brightly green eyes. "You must have your way around Rygor if you're in deliveries."

[Dapper Dog]

"Yeah, me pretty, you have been drinking, I'm like a 6 on a good day in the dark, after some drinks," she mused with color in her cheeks.

"But yeah in my business knowing how to get around is key."

[Daunt]

"If you want to dismiss my opinion, I am not going to dissuade you. Having some confidence wouldn't hurt your chances though."

He looked at the gallery of liquors across the counter, on the shelves, illuminated and glistening.

"Has someone asked you to deliver something to me?" He asked finally.

[Dapper Dog]

“I wish,” she said chuckling loudly which leads to a snort.

She composed herself and said, “Just killing time between jobs, I just hang out till I get a gig, and then back at it, kind of slow day I hope it picks up.”

“But it’s a living.”

[Daunt]

"Well then. I like dancing. Do you, Lyla?" He glanced at her with no particular intent hiding behind the green irises.

[Dapper Dog]

She looked surprised and then followed his lead, “Really? Thanks! I mean, yes!”

Once they were dancing she added, “You’re surprisingly approachable, Daunt… or is it Mr. Daunt? Is the mister implied? Sorry I talk too much.”

[Daunt]

"Just Daunt. My origins are humble, and I have never risen above them." He twirled her around her axis before pulling back into a respectful embrace. He wasn't a groper. "I am a violent man, and you wouldn't like me at my worst. I just try to isolate that part until situation requires it." A chasse. "Keep talking if it's your thing. It doesn't bother me. What bothers me is dancing alone, and you've remedied that."

[Dapper Dog]

“Umm okay… so well Daunt, I am from I guess simple beginnings too, born on Bankor I guess here in Rygor, dad worked in construction and mom did office work I think but she got the padju flu and bam she died. My brother went off to join the military so I am sure he is doing cool stuff somewhere in the galaxy. He said it was all top secret stuff, I bet he is like a high ranking guy by now, it’s been three years,” she said.

“So yeah I wasn’t really popular when I was young so maybe that’s why I have confidence problems? I didn't have many friends and just one boyfriend, ever, and I had to take my cousin to a dance because no one would ask me but it was fun. It got awkward when my cousin tried to kiss me and then it was a whole thing but we are okay now, I guess?” she continued.

“So I was like what am I gonna do with myself and then I thought I could get a job at the Foundry but I guess I didn’t have enough experience so they passed. Then I thought maybe next time so I tried again but I got so nervous at the interview I vomited all over the guy… so I didn't get a call back. I waited a couple of years and this time I knew I had it but then when I got to the interview I had the time all wrong and arrived two hours late! I was like stupid Lyla,” she continued.

“Then the fourth time? Yeah fourth time I totally nailed it but… my interview was with vomit guy and so that didn’t work as planned. I have the worst luck and that is when I broke up… well he broke up with me and started dating my other cousin, did I mention my other cousin, people say we look alike, which is weird because he’s a guy, so I guess I look like a man now?”

She sighed and then added, “But this time for sure it will work. And… I forgot why I told you this story.”

[Daunt]

"I guess because you want some anchor to your life, a job or a relationship, best both." He had listened without signs of boredom or interruptions, just giving it all to enjoyable dance. "And you want someone to understand that. Which I do. Life without purpose is not so good."

He sighed. "And you're girly alright."

[Dapper Dog]

"You don't feel you have purpose?" she asked.

[Daunt]

"Maybe I do. I just don't know it yet." He replied, though wondering if he hadn't been opening too much.

[Dapper Dog]

"So you do?" she said confused.

"I don't understand, but maybe that's why you're the cool one and I am the delivery girl."

[Daunt]

"Nah. Life just keeps me hanging. So until something gives I am just a thug, delivery girl." He chuckled.

[Dapper Dog]

"You don't seem like a thug to me, maybe you just need to meet the right girl?" she said quirking her lips.

[Daunt]

"Maybe, but I don't commit on the first date." He quirked his ashen lips correspondingly.
