Meanwhile Dove is distracted by the conversation the paranoid Nemoidian sees what he has feared a hooded person prepping a sniper shot right through a window. He can tell from the stance and shape that this figure is human-like… no they are human and then lock eyes and she seems surprised and winks before she unleashes two blaster bolts but they go wide and ripping through some food and then the second destroying a door.


Lyla sighed, she really didn’t like rifles... she fades from sight.

''DUCK!''

The nemoidian threw himself at his former CIS collegue, making a surprising tackle to have them tumble behind the couch as the shots were fired

Dove's eyes go wide as she's tackled and blaster bolts suddenly fly through the apartment's walls.

Kriff. Mia's gonna kill me.

"Frak!" she cursed, drawing her blaster and rolling to her knees behind the couch with Bowze. She peered over the couch, seeing the entry-points of the two blaster bolts, but seeing no sniper. At least it wasn't the Kitten... he wouldn't have missed.

"... Frak... my apartment..." Dove cursed again under her breath. "You ok, sir?"

The nemoidian panted hard...he was not one for sudden bursts of athletics. He tentatively looked at where the sniper made her shots.

''I am, the maker is with me...you?'' he squinted his eyes ''I think she is gone''

[Dove Gray]

"Unharmed." Dove took a deep breath, and carefully moved around the couch to the window, her blaster at the ready as she peeked out the window, trying to see where the shooter could have disappeared to.

"Seems so..." she kept her eyes peeled still. "Would this be the Imperial Agent you've been dodging? Because this is always the awkward question in situations like this; after me or you?"

[Bowze Coppa]

The nemoidian lurked near the windows to see if the woman did not simply reposition herself.

''I had an ominous feeling since a days...and she winked at me.'' he raised an eyebrow ''For what it is worth...but, no insult to you, I might have the bigger bounty on my head.''

[Dove Gray]

"No insult taken," she chuckled grimly, with a weird feeling of excitement... and annoyance that she would have to explain to her roommate that someone tried to assassinate her guest earlier. "As far as I know, I've eluded getting a price on my head. So far."

"... Do you think you'll be able to shake off any potential pursuit back to your place?"

[Bowze Coppa]

''Good on you...but be ready for increased scrutiny.'' he closed a set of drapes, just to be sure.

''My some miraculous chance I saw her face. That gives me an edge I did not have before coming here.'' the grim chuckle was echoed

''She was a rather slim faced human with hazel eyes, hazel to brownish hair down to her neck and quite pale. She looked quite young.''

[Dove Gray]

Her brows furrowed thoughtfully at the description. It seemed fairly non-descript, but... perhaps she was the one being paranoid now.

"I have other stuff on my plate, but... I will look into it. See if I can find out who she is." Dove had a hunch. And she didn't like the hunch.

[Bowze Coppa]

''You are under no obligation to do so.'' he said, relaxing a bit ''But I would owe you one if you did anyway''

[Dove Gray]

"Consider it a favor for old times' sake. Besides, you don't have to worry about repaying me personally." Seeing no signs of the shooter, Dove holstered her blaster.

"You were a smart kid during the war. Good people on this planet could use your smarts in giving those Imps a good kicking."

[Bowze Coppa]

''I wish I could do something tangible but alas I am a general without an army and if the people here knew who I was they might just hunt me down themselves.''

He shook his head and looked for the trash chute

''Leaving the planet might be the best way to keep people safe...at least then nobody would get caught in the crossfire.''

[Dove Gray]

"Leaving would be the logical solution, probably, but it's not easy for most people to just uproot themselves and leave behind their homes. But also running away all the time is just giving ground to the Imps."

She shrugged, straightening her jacket after the awkward rough-and-tumble. "Trash over there," she jabbed her thumb in the direction of the sink.

"Shame that your trip here to stay away from the Imps isn't working out though. They know you're here now."

[Bowze Coppa]

''I had hoped to live a simple life and be forgotten.'' he sighed before something clicked in his head ''Something is not right. This modus operandi does not fit the Empire.''

[Dove Gray]

She paused, giving him a serious look. "... You'll have to fill me in, since I haven't had Imperial assassins after me."

[Bowze Coppa]

''That's just it...why an assassin?'' he turned to face her ''This is imperial territory so why not send a troop of imperial thugs to corner and arrest me?''

[Dove Gray]

"Hmmm..." her lips pursed in thought. There were a number of reasons she could think of that would require an assassin instead of sending in the grunts.

"... Well, if it were me, back in the old days - I would've assassinated you if we wanted to avoid drawing attention to the presence of there actually being dissidents or enemies present. It can give people ideas. If you get shot out here in the slums, well, then it's just the lawlessness of this place - had nothing to do with us. Sending in the goon-squad on the other hand though, that draws attention. People start talking and asking questions."

Dove wasn't an expert on how the current modus operandi was, but she knew from her own experiences how she and some of her bosses would've gone about things. "Also, imps don't like sending in patrols too much here in the slums. It's a quagmire for them."

[Bowze Coppa]

The nemoidian paced around, thinking

''But to the public I am a war criminal...a separatist scum...taking me out would be great for them.''

He shook his head

''Maybe I am overthinking this''

[Dove Gray]

"Maybe. Maybe not," she wasn't the best at being reassuring when it came to paranoia. A spy had a good dose of paranoia themself. "Whatever the reason, someone is after you, and maybe wanted you to know that they're here and after you."
