[Day 3 - MM] The Reserve Team

This is the waiting area for the rest of the Resistance as they wait for the go from the insertion team.

[Ru'ni Wayne]

Ru'ni had volunteered for the mission last night, not even thinking that he had not brought his bow with him on this trip to the city. Fortunately, and tragically, the event yesterday had resulted in more weapons available than men to wield them. He made a generous donation of credits to the Aznuri Orphan Fund on the way to the rendezvous point in exchange for one of this tribal bows and a number of arrows.

He thought it only fitting to bring his ancestral weapons to bear against this newest threat to his people.

[Astin Denive]

Astin was bored, waiting had never really been his string suit and there had been more then enough volunteers for the suicide mission.

Staring up at the ceiling he pulled out a packet of gum, putting a stick in his mouth before offering it to Ru'ni. "This might be a bit of a weird question, but have you ever wondered why so many different species have breasts?"

[Ru'ni Wayne]

Ru'ni was pacing like a caged manka cat, until Astin asked his very peculiar question.

"Not until now I hadn't," the native replied as he stopped mid stride in confusion. "Biological necessity I assume?"

Strolling over towards the pilot, he accepted one of the offered pieces of gum and chewed slowly. "Do you spend a lot of time contemplating this issue?"

[Astin Denive]

"Sometimes, mostly when I'm bored." Astin answered honestly as he glanced at the man. "But Biological necessity? Sure that makes sense for a lot of mammalian races. But there are loads of races that aren't mammals and still have breasts."

He sat up a bit straight apparently waxing philosophical of simply on a roll. "The force is out there ya know, and it apparently connects us all together and all that mess. Maybe it just really likes boobs, and made it so they appeared in more species then simply nessacary."

[Ru'ni Wayne]

Ru'ni smiles. "I know of the Force, my people have a rich tradition of it, as close to the land as we are." He started to explain, feeling his nervousness at the upcoming mission start to melt away in light of the rather silly conversation.

"All the wisdom I have to offer though is this - if the Force thinks it good, then who am I to argue?" His smile broadened into a larger grin as he slapped Astin on the arm in jest.

[Astin Denive]

"Ha!" Astin chuckled. "I knew you were the right man to talk about this." Hypothesis confirmed at least to his liking the young racer grinned.

"You do know what this means though, right?"

[Ru'ni Wayne]

"No, not entirely," Ru'ni answered honestly as he popped a bubble in his gum. It was very similar to a confectionary his people made out of tree sap and he had indulged in way too much of it as a child.

"But I'm sure it will prove entertaining."

[Astin Denive]

To Astin it was clear as crystal, but he wasn't surprised that he had to explain it. "Well you see, Miss boss ladyvis always saying that the force omission on out side. I don't quite see it but I got to believe it ya know."

"Still I'm a man that likes to put the odds in his favor, when he can. And with the force liking breats and all it might side with whoever has the most and best breats or something. So I got to suggest we get on recruiting more women to this resistance of ours. You know to improve our chances."

"We can't be sure the Imps won't recruit a lot of sexy young women to improve morale or something after all."

[Ru'ni Wayne]

"Like in the desert a few days ago?" Ru'ni asked, remembering the time that Astin, Ria'la and himself were rather pleasantly outnumbered. But he quickly shook his head after the memory faded.

"No. That's not how the Force works."

"By that logic we'd be well served if you and I grew a pair if quantity is your concern, and I don't know how you'd fit them in that uniform."

Bah that was exactly why he was pretty certain the force never really worked in your favor. It was more like that grandma everyone had that 'did things in your best interest' but never consulted you on it.

When you really needed them weren't really around either. "I don't think i would look good with breats either. Maybe that spy fellow leading the mission but not me."

He sighed. "Still a man can dream."

[Ru'ni Wayne]

"Wasn't that Zabrak from the desert giving you all sorts of come hither eyes when she invited you to her shop? And you seemed pretty chummy with Mia at the meeting last night as well." Ru'ni questioned Astin.

"I don't exactly think you're hurting for ways to get in touch with the Force in your...unusual tradition."

[Astin Denive]

"Its matter of perspective I suppose. " Astin replied after blowing a bubble with his gum. "See I like Mia well enough, but while she hasn't told me directly I'm pretty certain she likes breats as much as we do."

"As for Weggs? Well she is cute enough, and soft and round in the right places but I'm pretty sure she is after a relationship and that's where our intentions differ." He frowned. "I mean I could lead her on and make her false promises, get in touch with the force in my usual tradition. But she is a nice girl, and deserves a bit better then that."

Astin shook his head. "I mean I'm a member of the resistance or whatever thos is, a few days ago I was almost shipped off to a death camp. I'm not interested in a serious relationship I'm after a one night stand or friends with benefits. Something easy to let go of if I got to leave this planet in a hurry."

[Xanna Teevou]

Xanna listened to the conversation going on right in front of her with a detached sense of bemusement. She supposed that this was how the males were attempting to hide their nervousness about the mission. As an attractive young woman she had been exposed to more than her fair share of this sort of thing.

Eventually she rolled her eyes and gave an exasperated sigh. Blowing off steam was understandable, but this was getting a bit much. At least the Jedi were able to hold a conversation that did not turn to sex, sexual organs, the 'attributes' of female colleagues, or the latest sexual conquest real or imagined.

She thought about checking her supplies one more time but she had what she had, that was not going to change with looking at it. So instead she found a place to do some light stretches and then meditate on the possible outcomes of the rescue mission.

Astin shook his head. "I mean I'm a member of the resistance or whatever thos is, a few days ago I was almost shipped off to a death camp. I'm not interested in a serious relationship I'm after a one night stand or friends with benefits. Something easy to let go of if I got to leave this planet in a hurry."

Ru'ni nodded in understanding. "In my youth, I sought experiences too; until I met Sister Viati. Enjoy your youth Astin, but be aware of the opportunity for more stable and meaningful relations."

She thought about checking her supplies one more time but she had what she had, that was not going to change with looking at it. So instead she found a place to do some light stretches and then meditate on the possible outcomes of the rescue mission.

"Miss Xanna," Ru'ni reaches out to the Pantoran. "I was wondering if you are accepting investments in your kitchen. After yesterday's incident, my people will be relying on your generosity more than ever."

Pausing in her stretches she looked over at the Aznuri and stood up. "Oh, well that is kind but it keeps itself running without too much monetary investment. Time and energy though, that is the thing I am always looking for. I can always use volunteers to help with serving, cleaning, even cooking if you have skills. Donations of fresh food are also welcome.

She offered a small smile. "Why, just yesterday I received a fresh bullgoat."

If he lived to be old enough for that sort of thing, he'd take the time to consider. Astin wasn't going to argue the point any further though, it wouldn't get him anywhere.

As the Anzuri started to chat with the young woman he sighed internally. The conversation had got her to stop stretching and it had been a bit entertaining to watch. The young woman seemed to have quite the remarkable ass after all.

Still not wanting to interrupt he pushed his gum into his cheek and tilted his head back as he closed his eyes. Maybe he would catch a quick nap?

"I can't cook, but I can hunt," Ru'ni offered with a smile. "I'll try and make sure you don't lack for meat for the near future."

"That would be most welcome, thank you, Ru'ni...is that the right way to be saying your name?"

The sleepy guy would not be disappointed as she started working through some basic unarmed combat routines. She really was in quite remarkably good shape.

Waiting until Astin closed his eyes she added: "And our expert on sexual selection in sentient species? What was your name again?"

The sarcasm he believed he heard in her tone brought small smile to his lips. "Names Astin, Miss." He offered sleepily.

He didn't bother to open his eyes, though he could hear that she was moving again. "Wouldn't call myself an expert though more of a student, and if you're ever interested in a study session just let me know."

[Xanna Teevou]

"To be perfectly honest Astin, I have never been that good at studying. I prefer to do." There was dry amusement in her voice. She continued her training drills. It helped to keep her from thinking about the mission was going.

That brought a soft chuckle to his lips and he cracked open his eyelids a bit to look at the pantoran. "Excuse me for laughing, but half of studying is doing right alongside it. Or that's how it's always been for me."

"Book knowledge only gets you so far after all you needs a hands on approach to really know what you're doing and vice versa."

He shifted his gum from his cheek and started chewing, reaching into his pocket to offer a piece to Xanna. "Now I suppose I should ask your name as I offer you a piece of gum, Miss." He nodded towards Ru'ni "My friend Ru'ni there was polite enough to provide it, but mama always said it was improper to use someone's name without a proper introduction."

As the two other members of team Overwatch got more familiar with each other, Ru'ni headed to look out over the engagement area.

Not that he could see much from this distance, unless the complex suddenly exploded, but it had the effect of calming him slightly.

[Xanna Teevou]

"I see our teachers had very different philosophies." She half smiled. "Yes, it was the studying of the book knowledge that I was never particularly good at." Her mother's voice echoed in her mind for a moment. 'Books and self-improvement are for poor people. Stupid girl.'

She did not commonly use gum, but it seemed churlish to refuse.
"Xanna Teevou, I run the soup kitchen in the Slums. Your mother was clearly a much more generous person than mine."

"I suppose I wasn't talking just from books, you can learn a lot from watch too. Seen my older brother kissing girls before i ever tried it myself. Saw dozens of cattle giving birth before my dad every let me help him. I knew a bit of the theroy behind both before I did it myself. The doing really set the lessons home, but I'm glad I knew the theroy behind it before I attempted it myself."

His smile turned a little wicked. "Still my offer stands, I've got no problems sharing more hands on knowledge."

The last comment caused him to chuckle. "I suppose she was, with twelve kids and a farm to run I don't think she could be much else. Still, nice to finally have a name to call ya by."
