[Day 3 - MM] The Jedi Distraction [Event]

Post by Dapper Dog » Fri Jan 31, 2020 4:13 am

The Jedi Distraction

OOC: This is a Chase thread, the players need to evade the Imperials for as long as they can. This is a Simple Piloting Planetary check by the driver. The other two players can use their skills to try and slow down their pursues either by using a skill check or a Force Power.

If a Force Power is used and successful it will increase the difficulty of the Imperial chase check to Easy while the skill checks grant a setback for every 2 successes and a Triumph increases the difficulty of the Imperial check by one.

To draw out the Inquisitor they need to complete three rounds without being caught. The Resistance starts at Medium range ahead of the Imperial guards. This is for 3 players.

Sinnya tucked her rifle in easy reach beside the driver's seat of the speeder. If she needed to use it, that *probably* meant they were all screwed, but you never knew.

Sinnya tried to slow the hammering of her heart with the thought that it was really going to be the Jedi everyone was after. The Jedi was the one risking whatever horrible tortures the Imperial devil meant to inflict on the former members of the Order. Sinnya was nobody; if they were caught, she'd probably just eat a blaster bolt to the head.

Yeah. Comforting.

She ventured a tense smile at the others, waiting for the signal.

Back on Chandrila, there were two things Mia was known for: her leadership and her physical capabilities. Sure, reassuring Sinnya would have been sensible, but they had already done so much of that. Instead, Mia was going to rely on her muscles.

It was a great plan. She loaded up pebbles, rocks, boulders onto the speeder and rolled up her sleeves. She had heard of Jedi tossing objects through the Force to take down people so why couldn't she throw them with her own 'Force' at the incoming Imperials?

Verse, as per the plan, was there; in the back of the speeder; mind almost blanking out now that things were starting off and she was expected to draw out the inquisitor. Tell the truth, this was about the full extent of the plan as far as it existed in her head... she had no idea what to actually do once the action actually started.

Oh, right, her lightsaber. She could use that to... hmm, maybe she could slice through some of the piping and what not, as they passed through the area. Nothing that would hurt any of the workers, but enough to slow the supply of hypermatter... which was probably important enough a setback to draw out the heavy guns. Being the inquisitor in this case, hopefully. She flipped on her saber, the bright blue glow and low thrum were like old friends saying hello again.

"Listen," she raised her voice as the wind threatened to drown it out, "when we enter the industrial zone, try and get in close to some of the structures so I can show them we're serious enough to... to take seriously!"

OOC: Driver can make a simple Piloting Planetary roll, no difficulty. While in this area if you get three threat or a Despair you hit a volatile line that cause an explosion this will add two setback to the piloting check and each participant, ally and enemy, suffers two strain from the heat.

Go ahead and get started. The difficulty for non-drivers is Average.

Once they entered the industrial zone, Verse started taking swings at piping and other important looking stuff; and it wasn't long until the Empire decided to show up and ruin her fun.

"We've got company!"

Wait, being chased by them was the whole point, wasn't it? Right then...

... she sliced off a big chunk of machinery hanging from the facade of one of the factories, sending it tumbling at just the right angle and velocity to make things more difficult for their pursuers.

"Let's do this, team!"

Sinnya gunned the propulsion system and swooped close to a building so Verse could knock a chunk out of it with her strange and amazing weapon, then darted away, dodging the chunks of duracrete with ease. Glancing in the rear viewer, she flirted with their pursuers--letting the speeder lag just a little as if Team Jedi was losing ground, then flicking tantalizingly out of sight behind an obstacle.

Triumph I assume goes to the enemy's difficulty dice? Can I use those advantages to give Mia a boost and "notice an important point"? Maybe a way to put some of the chase-ers out of commission or damage something useful to the Imperial war efforts (since we're in the Industrial region after all)

Maybe throwing boulders wasn't the brightest idea Mia had ever come up with. How was she going to throw boulders at another speeder so far away? She kept on throwing, and throwing, and throwing but the rocks would land in-between them.

Well, at least the speeder might be getting lighter.

The Imperial Speeders zoomed in to chase the resistance!

One just can’t handle the pace and has to duck through a safer roadway but maybe they are taking a shortcut? The other was far more nimble ducking under refinery pipes and through narrow alleys and is gaining on the group! Or at least it seemed so but Sinnya is obviously the better driver and nearly leaves them in the dust.

OOC: One speeder at Extreme and 1 at Long are now at Extreme range to the team. Round 1 done. Using 3 Advantage for a shortcut. Using Triumph to stay at Long range with no successes.

"Weren't we supposed to have sniper support?" Mia shook her head and then heaved up the biggest boulder she had. With a great roar, she somehow managed to toss it all the way at one of their pursuers.

Something came over her and she beat her chest afterwards. "Take that, you tyrants!"

The Mirialan did the unexpected; she did a flip! Dodging out of the way of what was, presumably, some turbo laser fire. Somehow she managed to land back on the speeder as well for extra style points.

The feel of the cannon’s retorts as she squeezed the controls sent waves of pleasure down her spine as she covered the area in exploding debris. Oh, and she hit the speeder, how fortuitous. The Tie fighter was nearly a hundred meters up as it hovered.

She really didn’t care what happened to the Foundry she just wanted the Jedi to die… and of course she didn’t. She did laugh with maniacal glee at the devastation she caused.

"Quick! Find cover, and don't get too close to me, she's after me!"

Verse would start running toward the nearest building that looked like it could provide cover; and which hopefully was also solid enough to not crash down on top of her from a little laser fire.
