[D3EE] Space Ghost

[Petrus Karath]

Petrus opened the door to his room. It was a small space, enough for a bed, a desk, and a nightstand. Clothes and takeout boxes were strewn around, as though a dozen Jedi had suddenly joined the Force while messily eating leftovers. Petrus shook his head. I need to do better.

an hour later...

He had a floor again. And clean sheets. Clean everything, really; the space wasn't too big, and he wanted to be thorough. It was the first step in what he wanted to do.

Petrus sat on the floor, cross-legged. Slowly, he focused on his breathing, in and out, clearing his mind.

And then, he focused on the vision he'd seen in the prison, and the presence he'd felt on the transport.

He gets a vague feeling of the Force flowing through him and for a moment he can see the spectral man in meditation in a strange place that looks like Coruscant but seems different.

"Hello there." Petrus greeted the man.

He paused a moment, considering his spectral surroundings. "What is this place? Is it Coruscant?" His frown deepened as he had a sense of foreboding...

It does not seem like the man actually hears him but he does feel another presence enter another man of dark skin with long thick hair and a modest beard. He spoke, with a rather Imperial sounding accent, though it sounds distant to Petrus, “So you didn’t leave with her, I thought you and your cousin were as thick as thieves.”


“She has her journey and I have mine, just because she disagreed with the Council does not mean I agree with her. They may be right, she may just be obsessed, although she does happen to be right more often than she is wrong,” the fiery haired man responded.


“Maybe, but one could see that as hubris, Daz. Hubris is dangerous,” the other man responded.

“Well if anyone knows a thing or two about Hubris, it would be the great Jedi Knight Byron Mik,” Daz responded.

“That cuts deep,” Byron said making a wounded gesture.

“You’re the one who seems to think no one notices your little research missions to Auratera,” Daz responded with a kind nod.

Byron glanced at the door and then back to Daz and said, “And?”

“I won’t tell the Jedi Council but you’re going to have to decide what matters more, the Order or… well,” he left the rest unspoken.

“You can be a rather insightful nerf-herder,” Byron said leaning back in the chair.

“She’s tried to kill you, twice, the second time almost succeeded,” Daz responded as he got to his feet. “I consider that a red flag, old friend.”

“Misunderstanding,” Byron said with an easy smile.

“Yeah, well you love her, she’s your problem… well two problems I surmise. You have not told the council about the child have you?” Daz said. “You wouldn’t be the first and Master Zyn would understand, better to ask for forgiveness now than have someone else piece together this poorly kept secret, like Lunda.”

“Maybe but it won’t matter, I’m leaving,” he said finally giving voice to the reason he came.

“Fine go… wait you mean…” and then the vision fades and he is back where he was.

"What." Petrus said out loud as the vision faded. He blinked. That had been a curious vision.

So, two Jedi, obviously. One seemed to have a secret lover. A secret murderous lover, from the sounds of it. And a secret child. Inwardly, Petrus winced. If anything the council had gotten stricter in later years... although, he suspected that this wasn't in recent years, given how unfamiliar it seemed. Not since he'd been there, anyway.

But what did it mean?

He'd gotten a collection of names, anyway. Daz was his mysterious man. Byron Mik. Master Zyn. Lunda... perhaps a little more information would help him place it. It could be pointing him towards the child, if she was still alive. Liua? Her skin wasn't as dark as her supposed father, but she did seem to combine his sarcasm with the supposed mother's murderous nature. It was a possibility, anyway.

Petrus shook his head, straining his memory. Maybe if he hadn't given up on his studies, as well as his lightsaber training...

he remembered that of the names Byron Mik was a familiar and then it dawned on him someone in the way way past made a trashy series of light novels starring a hard boiled Jedi investigator and the stories were based on this person.

There might be copies at the library.

Petrus rose to his feet, then frowned. The library would probably be closed... and even if it wasn't, Petrus had to do more cleaning for the party. "Kriff." He muttered.

Well, there was no help for it. Soon... he rose to his feet again, this time ready to do more cleaning.
