Restless [EN3]

[Daunt]

Drawn out of his bed by something, Daunt left quietly, armed and robed, and just started running. He would run through hills and plains, until his feet started slipping in the sands of the first dunes. Call it drylust, or something else. Eddies of the Force?

[Dapper Dog]

Waiting was a single Imperial shuttle and a single dark figure, their cloak billowing in the sand strewn winds.

[Daunt]

So eddies of the Force after all, though perhaps not his own. He rode the dune's crest down and approached the figure in a much more measured pace, finding the rhythm in the sand like he always had.

[The Inquisitor]

He was quiet and then ignited his crimson saber as Daunt approached.

[Daunt]

Daunt cast off his cloak, drew out and ignited the one he had been given. He hadn't yet learned how to fight with it, however, and his instincts made him wield it like zhaboka. Still, some ability carried over, so he wouldn't be entirely clueless.

[The Inquisitor]

The inquisitor waited.

[Daunt]

Daunt first sought higher ground, then leapt toward the Inquisitor with the sabre raised into a diagonal strike, first to third quarter. He tried to muster some anger against the opponent, mostly because of earlier blackmail, but predominantly he was confused and curious.

[Dapper Dog]

[Daunt]

Daunt gave it his momentary all, but it wasn't enough. He had a lot to learn.

[The Inquisitor]

The Inquisitor easily deflected the attack and then the next and the next as he waited for the right moment then once the opening was found struck out but thankfully Daunt was nimble but nimble enough when he saw his weapon from his hand.

Inquisitor vs Daunt Lightsaber: 1eS 1 failure

[Daunt]

Daunt didn't stop the movement, but lunged to reclaim the sabre [Manoeuvre] before it dug. He then twisted himself in a sweeping arc, seeking a loophole to emerge in the Inquisitor defence. He found none, so he continued the roll to make himself harder to catch by the Inquisitor's blade.

[Setback Again]

[The Inquisitor]

The Inquisitor once again was patient and then struck quickly using a feint to catch Daunt when he was open leaving a searing scar and then tripped the zabrak and place a thick boot on his weapon hand and said, “You have spirit, Daunt.”

His weapon pointing at Daunt’s face and he added in is calm mechanical voice, “I did not choose you because you had spirit but because you have potential. I don’t like to waste potential.”

“Tell me, what do you value most… and don’t say your life that much is obvious.”

[Daunt]

Before the Inquisitor had his way, Daunt managed to deflect a part of the impetus. [Parry, 3 Strain for 3 Wounds less]

"What I don't yet have. A line of purpose between who I have been and who I can be." He said honestly, though semi-seething as sand got into the wound, mobilising to force the Inquisitor's boot off his hand.

[The Inquisitor]

"What do you know of this man you used to be?" he asked.

[Daunt]

"I was born and raised a Nightbrother of Dathomir, taught to fight and kill with body and blade."

[The Inquisitor]

"I was born and raised a Nightbrother of Dathomir, taught to fight and kill with body and blade."

"The feckless witches," he said in reply. "I see now, you are a long way from your home night brother."

[Daunt]

"It's a journey." Daunt retorted with a small grin. "The strength of Dathomiri tradition surpasses the mistakes of past Nightsisters."

[The Inquisitor]

"What are these strengths?" he asked.

[Daunt]

"To dwell in shadow and darkness. To see life and death beyond the veneer of morality." He replied, calling upon his early teachings from Dathomir, at least what was left of them after the demise of the Nightsisters.

[The Inquisitor]

"Do you believe that or just saying what you have been taught?" he asked extinguishing his blade and stepping away.

[Daunt]

"I accept this as part of me and I would defend that part." He hopped up, massaged his wrist after putting out his own. "But I also respect bonds made in blood. My beliefs are like lava. They come from a powerful core, they flow unstoppable, converging and diverging, seeking destination."

[The Inquisitor]

"I will train you, you will learn, use those ideas as you see best but you serve me first, that is all I ask," he said.

[Daunt]

"You haven't made the terms of that service too clear though." Daunt was already processing why he had lost the fight. This lightsabre was no-good for his style. He needed to remake it somehow.

[The Inquisitor]

"In time it will become clear, Daunt, I am in need of someone I can trust to carry out the mission of the Inquisitors," he said to the man.

"You need training. It begins tonight."

[Daunt]

The Zabrak nodded. "So it shall be then. My body is ready. My mind will catch up."
