On the Edge [LA3]

[Daunt]

"Daunt." The Zabrak nodded. "People with soft hearts usually need to develop tough asses. Someone used to say that, I don't remember who."

[Rannek Nire]

"I'm not sure I've heard that one before." He said with a bit of a confused look on his face.

[Daunt]

"I guess the meaning is that people will take advantage and you'll get proverbial kicks in the butt a lot rather than what you think you deserve for being kind."

[Rannek Nire]

He tilted his head back and forth, "Well, yeah... That's why you gotta be picky with the people you hang out with. I'm not the type of dude who likes having to second guess everyone to see if they are being straight-forward or not... Sometimes I get lucky with the company I keep, but most of the time I just end up going it alone. Don't like getting kicked in the butt."

[Daunt]

"I get the going it alone part, Rennek, as this is my usual preference. As it is with straightforwardness." The Zabrak shut up for a moment and just watched the sea.

[Rannek Nire]

He nodded and turned back to watch the same sea.

"Where've you been before here?" He asked.

[Daunt]

"A place with just water and sand, and little in between. It wasn't a good place to stay. Bankor is an improvement. I like things to be diverse." He mused. "You?"

[Rannek Nire]

"Place called Bellassa. World like any other really. Worked for some villagers with a bit of a problem with the local wildlife and their neighbors." He replied.

[Daunt]

"Never heard of it. Can't say I've been to many places or have traversed the galaxy." He admitted. "Along this coast it's the Hutts who seem to hold sway, but the villagers are not displeased from what I've seen." He looked at the Mirialan. "We could hunt together sometime. A friend of mine has told me there's an acklay to take down roaming the wilds."

[Rannek Nire]

"An Acklay? That's pretty big game." He replied.

"I don't think I own anything that could crack through that natural cuirass." He replied.

[Daunt]

"Yeah, that's a problem. Wonder what could. Thought maybe as a fellow huntsman you'd have a solution. People can surprise."

[Rannek Nire]

"Unfortunately I'm not the cleverest of folks. Seems like trapping it with giant rocks or something would be the way I'd try and go with it... Stabbing through that armor just doesn't seem to be the best way about doing it. Unless you're like one of those inquisitor folks with the laser swords or something."

[Daunt]

"And you aren't?" Daunt teased. "I thought we all run around waving laser swords."

[Rannek Nire]

He tilted his head, “No laser sword waving for me as of late.”

[Daunt]

"Guess it's not as popular as it used to be. Means acklay will probably go on for a while more." He shrugged. "If you found one lying around, would you wave it though?"

[Rannek Nire]

“That’s like waving a big sign saying, ‘Look at me I’m a terrorist!’ Right?”

[Daunt]

"Probably. But you might get away with it if it's in warm colour?"

[Rannek Nire]

"Hmm? The color matters?" He asked.

[Daunt]

"To an extent. In what passes as legit, red is the new blue, no?" The Zabrak remained deadpan, but it was probably meant as a joke.

[Rannek Nire]

"Like... those Inquisitors? All their laser swords are red?"

[Daunt]

"I have seen maybe one, and it was red. Knowing how they like uniformity, this well may be the standard."

[Rannek Nire]

"So... you look pretty big. You lift?" He asked.

[Daunt]

"I haul and tug more. What I hunt down. But I do lift too." He looked Rennek over. "Want some tips?"

[Rannek Nire]

He chuckled, "I may not look it... but I do a bit of lifting too."

[Daunt]

"Nice." That earned Daunt's appreciative nod. "Do you know a place in Rygor?"
