Djanik had been told he needed to get out more, so he had made the trip to Jaklu, just to see what it was like.

He was thus, very surprised to see Dove, Dove Gray, asking around about Oraka Hin, the same man the inquisitor had so menacingly inquired about that morning.

Given she'd also been one of the resistance.

What an... interesting... turn of events.

He was loitering near a fruit stall, listening in to her conversations, conveniently following her path through the market.

There is a scream and an out of control repuslor wagon pulled by some nerfs is rushing through the village and an old man is unaware that he could be turned into road pizza.

Dove spotted the sassy-mouthed pilot from the mission this morning, and as she was about to approach, she heard the scream. And then she saw the scenario.

Perhaps it was just her impulses telling her to act, but act she did as she rushed to get the old man out of the way. "Watch out!"

Djanik, for his part, ran toward the out of control cart, looking for a way to stop the thing.

Realizing he didn't have time to try and stop the cart, he just threw himself forward, trying to pull the older man out of the way.

Djanik got a hand on the lead and pulled, but was immediately dragged off balance.

"Poodoo!"

As he fell, he only hoped his effort had made some different, and then he was kissing grass.

Pushing himself up, he looked with trepidation, to see what had become of the scene.

The old man is shoved out of the way much to his annoyance and Djanik is nearly trampled but somehow survived.

What were a few more bruises to his tally?

Patting down his body, he was pleased to find he still had all of it.

Rising stiffly to his feet he glanced around, trying to figure how who had the license plate on the cart that had almost run him over.

It was mandatory, for the joke.

Then he decided nobody else liked that joke anyway, and limped over to Dove and the old man, "Are you ok?"

The old man dusted himself off and said, "In my day we didn't rough up our old folks we respected them."

"Hey, you were almost ran over by that ride," Dove huffed. People were so ungrateful to attempted heroics. "I'm fine, Blue. Don't worry about me. You ok, though? That looked like a nasty fall."

[Djanik]

Djanik tried to shrug in a cavalier way, but winced.

"I'll live - got hit by a house the other day, so a cart isn't so bad."

Rolling his eyes, he added, "Just glad it wasn't worse... I'm sure I'll sleep it off in a week or two."

Some folks started gather to look at what happened. One of them a young woman, pantoran said, "Huyti, you need to be more careful okay. You know your hearing is not what it used to be."

"Nonsense, I am just fine," the older man argued.

"You were nearly killed."

"By this ruffian, yes I was," the older man scoffed and then continued on his way complaining about the state of the world.

"You will have to forgive him... I guess getting old is hard?" she offered. "You guys want some free fruit for your heroism?"

Dusting himself off, he glanced at Dove.

"I wouldn't exactly call what I did heroic - stupid, more like, but Scrap is always telling me I should eat more healthy."

Mostly so she could take his food, but still...

"Well you saved someone's life so I am calling you a hero," she said with a smile.

"I won't say no to some free fruit," Dove gave a weary smile. Old people were the worst - ugh...

"Does this happen often with the old guy?"

Djanik smiled sheepishly at the praise, but accepted with good grace. "Well, I could use a snack. Thank you..."

He realized he'd never met this charming young Pantoran before.

"I'm Djanik. Pleased to meet you, by the way."

“Veras, Mr. Djanik,” she said with a smile and then gesture for them to follow to her produce stand, that seemed to also sell jerky as well. She replied to Dove, “Not often but he can’t hear so well and is stubborn, poor guy.”

“So I got some cram berries, which is a specialty, and well anything else you might like as a snack. I can;t give away too much but I figure your good deed should be rewarded. You two new around here? Or doing a couples thing at the hot springs?”

“If not you should, it’s gorgeous I hear and really relaxing.”

Djanik nearly tripped when she said 'couples thing.'

No way, Dove was way out of his league.

Still, it was a nice thought.

"If you don't mind - jerky would be great."

He could even save some for Scrap. She'd love it.

"I was told by a local to check out the countryside, which is why I'm here today - she didn't mention any hot spring. Where is that?"

Soaking his bruised form body would certainly be blissful, even if he did it alone.

“South side of town, can’t miss it,” she said as she filled a small wooden crate with bundles of jerky for Djanik.

She presented him with about 3 kilos of jerky and some mixed fruits. She smiled, “Please enjoy and if you love it, you can always come back!”

Dove laughed a little. "No, no... not a couple," she didn't quite snicker, but it was all humurous to her.

"Hey, if it's the cram berries from the farms here, I know they're good. Just make sure mines are without the spiders, eh?" she said with a smile. "As for me, I'm just looking around for someone... maybe you could help, seeing you're a local gal?"
