Returned To The Nest (D4, EM. Dove/Mia apartment)

[Dove Gray]

Dove felt sorry for the senator. To have gone through such a rough time, being kept in that shitty place. She'd given the lady plenty of time to recover from the ordeal, and there had been many sleepless nights and days watching over her, but it seemed things were looking a bit better now.

Stepping away from the kitchen, Dove carried some simple breakfast and kaff on a tray over to the sleeping-couch. "How are we feeling today, ma'am?"

She stirred and said, "Thank you and good morning, I would stand but my leg is still a little tender."

[Dove Gray]

"Don't worry about it, ma'am. Your leg needs all the rest it can get." There was a brief flash of anger in her features. "Those kriffin' bastards... I should've made them pay more for treating you this way. You didn't deserve this."

[Dapper Dog]

“It’s done,” she said with a sigh.

“I am here now, free of their clutches. It was…” she closed her eyes and then added, “It does not matter. This is what happens when people speak against the powers that be.”

"Yeah, but this is way different than it was back during the war. This is going too far - shoving people into that prison." Dove was upset about it. Especially since it had taken her this long to find her, and she hadn't been able to stop the hurt and pain.

"People are still speaking out, and standing up. It's just... much more dangerous now."

[Dapper Dog]

"it will only get more dangerous," she responded in agreement.

"That doesn't mean I, or the others, are going to stop, you know," she smiled dryly. "You might be surprised to hear that there's some old allies of ours here too. Galaxy is a small place, after all."

"I am not surprised, my neighbor was a Jedi... she even nearly escaped," she responded.

"I thought they were all dead."

[Dove Gray]

"They all escaped, ma'am, as far as I know. If you like, I can arrange a meeting with her for you, along with another one I've been watching over since our ways parted?" Dove offered, knowing that the senator had been sympathetic to the Jedi at the end of the war when the Jedi became victims of their own allies.

"I would like to at least give her my thanks, she was kind," she responded.

[Dove Gray]

"Most of them seem to be," she agreed with a smile, nodding. She would make it happen. "The Resistance that helped to get you out are working to stop the Empire here on Bankor. When you feel better, is that something you wish to assist with, ma'am?"

Dove, being wired to only think work thanks to her creator, wasn't quite able to assume that the Senator might just want to say kriff it all and retire from that line of work.

"I think that would be good, before I was locked up I was working with Bail Organna on something big," she responded.

She rose an eyebrow in surprise at that. Organa had been on the Republic's side, Dove thought. But hey, double-agents weren't unheard of.

"You have my interest, ma'am. I thought Bail Organa was against the Seps?"

[Dapper Dog]

"Well he is... or was, but I had regular contact with many of my peers in the Republic, and well when things took a turn he reached out to me, I don't have many details but it seems that not everyone in the Senate supports the new Emperor as deeply as they say," she said.

[Dove Gray]

"That is... quite the interesting news," she pondered how this could be used. Later. The Senate was of little interest out here, right now. "The situation here has been... shifting. The Empire has had a strong grip on things, and some weeks ago they decided to make a show of force on the natives here - some anti-tech religious folks. It backfired pretty badly for them even if they were very successful in the attack."

"Day after, we got that new thing on the skyline, The Dictator. Now they're trying to pretend they were nice all along... probably opening up some puppy-orphanages, or something, for all I know."

"Smart idea, people have short memories," she said honestly.

[Dove Gray]

"Surprisingly short." Dove snorted. Most people were fools, unfortunately.

"I may have also compromised myself in all this," she reported. After all, this was one of the very few people in the Galaxy Dove had complete honesty with. "I took it upon myself to get close to the head Inquisitor responsible for Bankor, and it has... been effective, so far. He trusts me and I have his confidence, but it's becoming more difficult to keep the resistance here a step ahead of him and the rest of the Imps."

"Especially to keep him off the trail of a Jedi by the name Oraka Hin that he's obsessed with finding."

"You do enjoy an impossible challenge, what's your exit plan?" she asked.

[Dove Gray]

"Hey, someone's gotta do the hard work," she chuckled with some confidence.

"Not a firm plan yet. Hopefully it will involve planting some blaster bolts in the back of his head, the galaxy would certainly be better off that way." As confident as she was though, Dove knew she couldn't take out someone like that on her own.

"This Oraka Hin must probably want to get rid of his pursuer too. One way or another. I think the time draws near for setting a trap of some sort for the Inquisitor."

And she knew very well that could mean her life on the line, but that was part of the job sometimes.

"You have been close to him, what have you learned about him that could be useful?" she asked.

[Dove Gray]

Her lips pressed together for a moment.

"He's... a troubled man, I'd say. He doesn't show it though. He's suffered an extensive injury at some point, which cost him his arm - it's now a mechanical one. He seeks validation, he wants more power, and to 'commit himself fully to the Dark Side', whatever that means. The pursuit of Oraka Hin is certainly a personal one. He doesn't trust easily either, and I don't think he trusts me fully either, but he is arrogant and confident in the belief that he can handle anything that comes his way."

She reached for her courier-bag, as she continued. "He seems... not exactly at odds with Admiral Yulani who commands The Dictator, but there is some disagreement there. I also get the impression that he and the other Inquisitor, the 13th Sister don't seem to get along either. They're not fighting eachother, but neither thinks highly of one another."

A press of a hidden button brought out her concealed and encrypted data storage. "He is also infatuated with me, I suspect even that he has become dependant on my companionship."

With the data accessed, Dove showed her a picture taken from the neural recorder. A picture of what the Inquisitor looked like underneath his mask.

[Dapper Dog]

"And he wears a mask, why?" she joked. "He depends on you... that's useful and dangerous."

[Dove Gray]

"I know, right?" Dove snorted a laugh. She wasn't going to deny he was damn fine underneath that mask. "Most likely to protect his own identity, I wager. I haven't gotten around to looking into his past, but it's something I must rectify. But yes... he seems to do just that, which is as you say, useful and dangerous."

She sighed slightly. "When the opportunity presented itself, I didn't want to let it go to waste. Even if it meant going in without a solid plan."

"So we're building the starship as we jump to hyperspace?" she questioned.

[Dove Gray]

She chuckled sheepishly. "Yeah, that's more or less it..." Dove could admit she wasn't the best at planning sometimes.
