A Hunt Like Many Before [EM4]

[Daunt]

It had become a habit and a commitment. Daunt had been meeting the Mandalorian for game hunting at down in order to deliver the meat to town soon after so that Xanna could serve it at her soup kitchen as early as lunchtime.

Thus again, at the break of dawn, he waited at the usual spot. He had wondered many times where she was coming from to arrive almost as early as he, but had never asked.

[Sacha Ordo]

Sacha appeared soon to meet him, waving a little as she arrived. "Good morning, Daunt," she greeted warmly.

[Daunt]

"Good morning, Sacha." He was a bit more reserved in his voice, but it was more a general quality than a measure of his attitude, she already knew that much. His smile was welcoming. "Ready for hunting something down?"

[Sacha Ordo]

Her expression was invisible as always, but her stance was open and relaxed; friendly. "Always. That jaklu warcat may show up again this morning... We'll see. The pack had a good hunt a couple of days ago." She had told him much of what happened - that she'd essentially befriended the leader of the pack their original warcat kill had been part of.

[Daunt]

"Then I should be doubly wary in case the pack holds a grudge." Daunt mused, readying his zhaboka. "Have you named them?"

[Sacha Ordo]

She shook her head. "Not yet. It seemed... presumptuous?" She tried to articulate the feeling of it, but failed as she headed into the woods, sword at the ready.

[Daunt]

He nodded, accepting her rationale, and dedicated himself to the hunt. On and off conversations were normal during their outings. Soon, they would spot a theta-deer and cornet it against the cliff after a brief chase, where it was an easy pray, though the run got them dirty and bruised because of rushing through the thicket of trees.

She smiled when they were done, exhilarated by the chase and feeling good despite the dirt and bruising. "That went well."

[Daunt]

"Yes. You've come to like that bit of savagery, haven't you?" He chuckled.

[Sacha Ordo]

"Mm, maybe less the savagery, but the hunt itself... It's exhilarating. Easy to lose yourself in," she replied with a nod.

[Daunt]

"Or find yourself in it." He kept his tease, because why not. He sometimes was like that. When he wasn't gruff and silent. "Any plans for later this morning?" He decided not to dress it here, but transport it whole to Xanna.

[Sacha Ordo]

"Perhaps," she responding, her won voice gaining a small playful note. She brushed his arm with a gloved hand as she moved to help bind up the creature for transport. "Not aside from heading home and doing some work. I was thinking of hunting for scrap a bit later. I'm so close to being able to build the base for my armor I can taste it."

[Daunt]

"How much are you short?" He mused, not pulling his arm away, just working on binding the deer.

[Sacha Ordo]

"Right now, 400," she replied. "I was in the scrapyards nearly every day looking the past few weeks."

[Daunt]

"Remind me tomorrow if you're still short." He mused.

[Sacha Ordo]

She had a curious tilt to her head as they finished tying up the game. "Do you have something in mind?"

[Daunt]

"Just lending you some cash so that you can do that and move onto the next thing. Unless it's offensive for the Way, then forget about it."

[Sacha Ordo]

She laughed a little and shook her head. "It's not offensive. I'd want to do something for you back, though."

[Daunt]

"Like what, Sacha. You know I can handle myself, and I don't know what you're even good at." He chuckled. "Unless it's some ploy to play with my armour."

[Sacha Ordo]

"I mean, I wouldn't miiiiind..." She replied, and he could hear the grin in her voice. "Still. I'm very good with mechanics of all kinds. You ever need something fixed or upgraded, I'd be happy to."

"I know a lot of stuff about a lot of stuff, too, so... yeah. To be honest, aside from beating stuff up, those are my two main skills. I can cook semi-decently?"

[Daunt]

He got still for a moment, then took off his cloak and started unstrapping his armour. "I think it could be a bit more flexible at the joints. Show me your magic if you will."

She nodded. "Sure." A custom toolkit came out from under her cloak and she accepted the armor pieces as he took them off. She worked away at it for a while, humming to herself as she made adjustments and carefully measured and added the coating. She seemed cheerful as she worked - armor was an uncomplicated subject, and the armor of others wasn't weighed down so heavily as hers was with cultural baggage. It was fun and relaxing work.

Soon, she handed her work back to him. "Easy. It was fun to get a better look at your armor, too."

"Obviously, you know what you're doing. I respect that." He had sat on the fallen trunk watching, attentive and topless.

He can likely feel her eyes on him as she sat back, body language confident as she packed up the toolkit. "I'm not the very best, but I'm pretty damn good."

He noticed her gaze, or more accurately the stable angling of her vizor, and tilted his head. "Are we still talking armouring?"
