Caving gear for totally innocent purposes (EA D4)

[Djanik]

Djanik made his way back to market, looking to buy some equipment to make it a little easier, and a little safer, to go spelunking.

Some items were cheap - chalk, lots of chalk - and some less so. Proper handheld scanners, stims, and emergency rations. Those would be harder to source at reasonable prices, so he browsed, contemplating what he was attempting to do in relative quiet.

Scrap tagged along, looking a bit bored and unhappy with his choice of activities for the day.

In a simple dark grey shirt, darker cargo pants and a black belt to finish it off Jenna wasn't exactly the most noticeable person in a crowd. Nor did the golden markets aid this in the excitement of difference that it promoted in its attendees. Yet, still, Jenna was there among the myriad of denizens that walked these streets and purchased from the many stalls. Acclimating to life underneath the oppressing gaze of The Dictator.

Just settling in at the stall she'd already offered her order and was waiting patiently. Sitting just at the stall, off Djanik's path, she stretched backwards and her arm blocked his way for a brief moment.

[Djanik]

Djanik, lost in thought, plowed into her outstretched arm and back.

Embarrassed, he stepped back, saying, "I'm sorry, I didn't see you, are you all right?"

[Jenna Karath]

With the bump she glided on her seat a bit but yet kept her balance, turning to him she assumed the very congenial attitude of someone who'd been accidentally imposed on. Having caught herself on the stand so that she didn't go completely tumbling over. "Nothing but a little stir," she said, laughing it off.

Shifting from the stool, she found it best to reorient by standing, "All in one piece, just a little bit more awake then I was prior. Probably shoulda watched where I was stretching, too, anyway," she sighed a little.

[Djanik]

"Still, I should've watched where I was going."

Djanik apologized, all the same. "You're sure you're all right?"

[Jenna Karath]

"It's quite alright," she said, gesturing to the stool next to her, "maybe a good idea to get our of your own head for a bit then? Come back down to earth a little and fill your stomach? Always found eating at a place like this reminds me of the little moments and all, when life is going pretty fast. Calming, kinda, I guess," she chuckled.

[Djanik]

That...

Wasn't the worst idea.

Djanik glanced at his datapad. He was due to eat lunch...

With a faint shrug he took the offered seat.

"Well then, it isn't every day you get an invitation like that."

He offered a hand. "I suppose I'll introduce myself, then. Djanik."

[Jenna Karath]

"Jenna," she said, taking his hand gently.

"You always ask that data-pad of yours before you embark in on something?" she asked with an amused grin.

[Djanik]

"I've got a schedule today, so I have to finish my shopping before I head out."

He shrugged.

"Normally I like to live a little slower, I admit."

[Jenna Karath]

"What're you looking for?" she asked, as her food arrived she collected her plate and drink but held the attendant there for a moment and indicated Djanik so that he might be served too. "Might be I can help," she sipped at her drink while she waited for him to order.

[Djanik]

"A variety of things."

He chuckled. "Some of it, I'm not sure yet. I'll know it when I see it."

Glancing at the place she had just invited him to eat, he asked, "So uh, what sort of food do you recommend from this particular stall?"

[Jenna Karath]

"Vague," she said, setting the drink aside for the moment and not quite touching her food yet. Though, she let it slide, and with a chuckle answered his question, "Normally? I just tend to walk up to places like this and order the usual," she shrugged, "seeing as I don't come here it gets me something interesting. Not like most food places in the city, stalls like this, I figure, always a bit of a random hit or miss. Usually my stomach survives."

[Djanik]

"A gambler, then."

A lopsided grin stretched across his face.

"Then I'll also order the usual."

After doing so, he added, "I am trying to find the equipment necessary to do a bit of caving, that's all."

[Jenna Karath]

"Still, vague, but I can help a bit with that," she said, glancing around to get a better idea of where she was at. "Once we're done here, if you keep heading down the street..." she guesstimated, "about that away? Yea, you'll find a few shops. Look for the ones with vendors outside trying to sell you rope, but don't buy anything outside it's always of the poorest quality being out in the sun all day. Instead try to find the quietest shop in the area, usually those are the best because people respect the atmosphere of the shop for it's quality."

"What kinda caving you do? Been.." she shrugged, "scientist or something like that?"

[Djanik]

"I suppose you could call it archaeology."

More like treasure hunting, or damn foolishness...

"I'll have to take a look - do you think they'd have scanners or the like there?"

[Jenna Karath]

"I could call it archaeology, or it is archaeology?" she asked with an amused grin. Shifting her seat forward she finally stopped waiting to eat her meal before his arrived, didn't make sense to wait the whole time lest it get cold. Still, she'd done her politeness by waiting for a bit, she figured.

"North from here," she added before plopping a bite into her mouth, "if you don't find what you're looking for over there head up toward those shops. Lot of expensive gadgets and gizmos like that on sale up there, should be able to find what you're looking for."

[Djanik]

"Ah, thanks."

He scratched the back of his head, thinking about it.

"It's trying to dig up old and lost things. So you can call it what you like - it's probably a fool's errand."

[Jenna Karath]

"To document, or?" she asked with the leading nature of the question.

[Djanik]

"Maybe use. Maybe document."

Maybe bury.

He sighed.

"It's a lot of rumor."

[Jenna Karath]

"Use?" her brow perked up at that, "What sort of find are you hoping to use, I wonder?" she asked, it was territory he didn't seem all that comfortable sharing but.. she didn't really have any reason not to press.

[Djanik]

"Yeah. Old technology - maybe."

With a wide shrug, he added, "I can't be sure there's even anything there. I really am chasing a rumor of buried treasure here."

Then his meal arrived, and he gazed at it with a mix of horror and interest.

"I don't think I've ever seen noodles... pre-wrapped... onto sticks before."

[Jenna Karath]

"Sounds," she took another bite, needing to rush through the rest of her meal before it expired past its prime. Whatever it was, it wasn't something she wanted to test how it felt or tasted when it got too cold. "Like- a lucrative- business deal. Eh, job," she corrected and swallowed.

"What do you think you're gonna find?" she asked, raising a brow.

[Djanik]

Djanik was trying to figure out how to eat noodles from a stick.

At her question, he paused, trying to chew and swallow.

Luckily, he managed not to choke himself via haste, holding up one hand until he finished chewing.

Finally, he managed, "Not sure. Maybe parts or components for old ships? Rumor says 'supplies' and gets pretty vague beyond that."

[Jenna Karath]

"Supplies... In a cave?" she asked, her brow raised inquisitively. "Seems a strange sort of rumor you're following on that one. If I knew better I might try to save you some grief, and money, and tell you it'd be better to just go home and watch something entertaining."

[Djanik]

"You might be right."

He chuckled, and gave an uncertain look at the noodle kebab... noobab?

"Isn't that how treasure hunting works? You place your wagers, and then the sabacc cards fall as they might..."
