Day 4 EE - Welcome to my humble Aboat

Dotted with fishing towns this rugged coastline is a frontier region relatively free of Imperial interference.

"Oh yes, Byron and I go a long ways back," he said with a shake of his head.

"Jedi Cop and Bad Cop... don't ask, but it was a whole thing. Let me guess he is Float's great uncle many times removed?"

"Is he? That would explain...so little, but be real cool! I'd love to have a jedi ancestor like you folks. My family were just honest kelp farmers."

"So you were Bad Cop, huh?" Petrus crossed his arms. "Jedi Black Operations, right? You and a friend. Is that Lunda?"

“Jedi Black… the Sixth Line you mean, clever boy,” he said honestly. “There is no contemplation, there is only Duty.”

“Lunda was not Sixth Line, she was… a lot of things,” he said trailing off.

“How do you know that name? Was that in your vision as well?” he asked.

Petrus grimaced. Well, he supposed if anyone had a right to call him boy, it was an ancestor.

He shook his head. "Nope. Detective work. Maybe this Byron would have been proud." A brief smirk. "I'm trying to figure out why I had these visions. I think maybe the Sixth Line had something to do with it. Or you, Byron, Lunda, your successors..." Petrus grimaced. "Maybe even... did he really have a Sith girlfriend?"

Daz closed his eyes and said, “He really did, Dracosvina… a rather pretentious and dangerous Sith Lord she nearly killed him… twice. They met on some backwater world during his training to become a Jedi and they were inseparable. As inseparable as a Jedi and Sith could be.”

“He loved her, she loved him… they fought, she’d hatch some terrible scheme he would foil it; he would plan a peaceful mission she would spoil it… it was a messy thing. I can see the appeal though, she was all dangerous curves and lightning.”

“But don’t thumb your nose at the Sith, you got some Sith in you too boy, one of the first Dark Jedi to form the Sith was our great ancestor, Lord Oshin.”

"I feel like the order has become significant more celibate since your time. Like, y'all were at 11, and now we're down at 1. This Drascovina...she's even got an evil name! Petrus cast a sidelong look at Floats. "I know, right? She sounds like a character from Warrior's Heart or something, doesn't she?"

But he was more focused on the other part. "Wait. I'm descended from a Sith? Lord Oshin?" Petrus shook his head. "No way. Who is this Lord Oshin, anyway?"

“Never met him, Layne… my cousin and your ancestor as well I guess spoke to his Force ghost when she was training to be a Sith on Korriban, I don’t know all the details but she helped him pass on and maybe redeem himself? Oh and our great aunt possessed someone, swapped some bodies, became queen of a whole species and then died… it was a whole thing. The Sith blood came from her side of the family, but the Sith teachings came from Lord Oshin’s side? This isn’t my area of specialty,” he admitted.

Daz said to Floats, “I am not sure it was any different, the Council frowned on such things even then but it happened. A lot.”

“Put enough Jedi together and mystery babies start popping up.”

"I, uh, have heard of it happening." Petrus glanced at Floats. "From time to time."

He shook his head. You know, having a sith ancestor would explain why my parents were so terrible. Well, one of them anyway.

He looked back at Daz, clearing his throat. "So, this Sixth Line. Do you know if they stuck around?"

"I have no idea as to the fate of the Sixth Line, I would assume not, there were not many of us left before I made this, Jedi in general. Things took a bit of a turn for the worst but I imagine things got straightened out since there are Jedi in this era... outside of the domineering Empire, yes Floats filled me in," he responded.

"Always an Empire."

Petrus frowned, crossing his arms again. "What do you mean... the Sith? I've heard that The Empire is connected with them."

Daz responded, “That’s a complicated story, you are going to have to be a bit more specific? As for your Empire, it has the tell-tale signs of the Sith but the Sith were much more numerous in our time, they had no reason to hide… this new Empire something has changed.”

"Well, there's just two of them. I think." Petrus grimaced. "The Emperor was hiding right under our nose for years. And then Darth Vader came out of nowhere. For all I know, they've got more, somewhere."

He cleared his throat. "But these Inquisitors, they're former Jedi. They're turning us into them." Petrus' grimace deepened, his arms tightening around his chest.

“The old turn you into us trick… getting Revaned… except without the amnesia? I guess the classics never truly die. Well if the Sith are back you got a whole heap of trouble, kid. The way I hear it, this Sith Lord basically decimated the Order in a single day, that’s impressive,” he said with nod.

"Impressive? That's what you have to say about it?" Petrus snapped. He ran a hand over his face.

After a moment, he sighed. "Sorry. I have a thing about my older relatives, I guess." He waved acknowledgement of Floats' question.

“Not my specialty, but yes it was done even then, redemption was not beyond any Jedi or Sith. I think Byron was big into that, I just make sure threats are no longer threats to the Republic by any means,” Daz said calmly.

"This Byron sounds like an okay guy, except for the questionable taste in girlfriends." Although she did sound kinda intriguing... grimacing, Petrus shook his head.

"I guess I just don't understand." Petrus said, slouching a bit as he sat. "How could you alter the Jedi Code like that? Were things really that bad? Did it even help?"

“It was a tough decision, and the Sixth Line was a secret, there were never many of us and we were chosen for our dedication to the Core tenets and a high aptitude for resisting using our newfound mandate to be tyrants we were dedicated to one thing, preserving and defending the Republic. We simply had less restrictions than most Jedi,” he said honestly.

“We were at war, whole planets were turned to wastelands, it was decades of warfare with brief moments of peace… Coruscant was sacked twice, we laid siege to Ziost… we destroyed the academy on Korriban… even Alderaan was besieged. It was messy.”

"That's a really good question, Floats!" Petrus said cheerfully. He looked at Daz, but then he shook his head.

"Actually, let me ask..." Petrus pressed his lips together. "Is there something you would do differently? If you were gonna do it again?"
