I think maybe the Sixth Line had something to do with it. Or you, Byron, Lunda, your successors..." Petrus grimaced. "Maybe even... did he really have a Sith girlfriend?"

Petrus cast a sidelong look at Floats. "I know, right? She sounds like a character from Warrior's Heart or something, doesn't she?"

But he was more focused on the other part. "Wait. I'm descended from a Sith? Lord Oshin?" Petrus shook his head. "No way. Who is this Lord Oshin, anyway?"

“Never met him, Layne… my cousin and your ancestor as well I guess spoke to his Force ghost when she was training to be a Sith on Korriban, I don’t know all the details but she helped him pass on and maybe redeem himself? Oh and our great aunt possessed someone, swapped some bodies, became queen of a whole species and then died… it was a whole thing. The Sith blood came from her side of the family, but the Sith teachings came from Lord Oshin’s side? This isn’t my area of specialty,” he admitted.

Daz said to Floats, “I am not sure it was any different, the Council frowned on such things even then but it happened. A lot.”

"I, uh, have heard of it happening." Petrus glanced at Floats. "From time to time."

He shook his head. You know, having a sith ancestor would explain why my parents were so terrible. Well, one of them anyway.

He looked back at Daz, clearing his throat. "So, this Sixth Line. Do you know if they stuck around?"

"I have no idea as to the fate of the Sixth Line, I would assume not, there were not many of us left before I made this, Jedi in general. Things took a bit of a turn for the worst but I imagine things got straightened out since there are Jedi in this era... outside of the domineering Empire, yes Floats filled me in," he responded.

Daz responded, “That’s a complicated story, you are going to have to be a bit more specific? As for your Empire, it has the tell-tale signs of the Sith but the Sith were much more numerous in our time, they had no reason to hide… this new Empire something has changed.”

"Well, there's just two of them. I think." Petrus grimaced. "The Emperor was hiding right under our nose for years. And then Darth Vader came out of nowhere. For all I know, they've got more, somewhere."

He cleared his throat. "But these Inquisitors, they're former Jedi. They're turning us into them." Petrus' grimace deepened, his arms tightening around his chest.

“The old turn you into us trick… getting Revaned… except without the amnesia? I guess the classics never truly die. Well if the Sith are back you got a whole heap of trouble, kid. The way I hear it, this Sith Lord basically decimated the Order in a single day, that’s impressive,” he said with nod.

"Impressive? That's what you have to say about it?" Petrus snapped. He ran a hand over his face.

After a moment, he sighed. "Sorry. I have a thing about my older relatives, I guess." He waved acknowledgement of Floats' question.

“Not my specialty, but yes it was done even then, redemption was not beyond any Jedi or Sith. I think Byron was big into that, I just make sure threats are no longer threats to the Republic by any means,” Daz said calmly.

"I guess I just don't understand." Petrus said, slouching a bit as he sat. "How could you alter the Jedi Code like that? Were things really that bad? Did it even help?"

"I guess we weren't there. I hope breaking all the rules was worth it in the end, real awkward if it ain't."

"That's a really good question, Floats!" Petrus said cheerfully. He looked at Daz, but then he shook his head.

"Actually, let me ask..." Petrus pressed his lips together. "Is there something you would do differently? If you were gonna do it again?"

"No."

Whistle "I envy your confidence Daz. I'm never sure whether I should be installing a T-4 or a T-44 and over here you're all joining jedi assassins and stuff. Guess that's why you were a big famous jedi and we're still learners."
